Have you ever had to call emergancy 911? Did you know anyone that did? How'd it go?

In England I think it's 999 at least judging by the Motörhead song.

I did once when I was in middle school because my friends and I were skateboarding and one was doing a [a href=http://www.sugarskateboards.com/home_page/images/dj-switch-50-50.jpg] grind on some stairs[/a] and he fell shattering one of his testicles. So I had to run and call the ambulance. He threw up a lot and it was very messy. In the end he got a prostetic one to replace his original nut that had been shattered beyond repair. We called it his 'peg nut'

EDIT: I just realised 911... 9/11... Weird that.

Anyway, I've had to call 999 a few times because of family arguments.
Let's just say we're a very violent family.

The sad thing is that apparently 911 in the UK also calls the police/ambulance/fire brigade because so many UK citizens watch US TV and think that's the number to call (It is 999 as mentioned in the OP).

As for whether it is true or not I don't know because I've never needed to call.

I'd also expect an angry response for those who think you are mocking today.

I did last year.
I took an overdose and had to call an ambulance.

It was very matter of fact: "What is your emergency? Okay, I'll transfer you to the ambulance service. Hello, this is the ambulance service, what is your emergency? Ok, what's the adress? Ok, an ambulance will by shortly.". That was it...

Oh yeah, and an ambulance did come to take me to the ER.

I've never had to call an ambulance, police car, or fire truck. Though looking back I can think of a bunch of times when I either should of or should of been smart enough to not put my self into a position where I needed one.

I haven't had to dial 999 previously, however, I have been phoned by the police as I had to be a witness to something and on another occasion I walked to the police station to report that my bike had been vandalised.

Nay, but would have done a while back if I'd got the reg plate of the guy who I swerved and dodged going the wrong way down a motorway. Was too busy swerving and dodging though lol

I haven't had to dial either 999 or 911 so far.

My fathers car was stolen and he told me to call it in [he was late for work, just took his motorcycle.]
In my area at least, they're very efficient. They arrived within 10 minutes, took my statement, and had the car back before night time. It helps that it was ditched [after being sideswiped by an 18 wheeler] on the side of the road.
Then again, there was an incident here were the highway patrol showed up within minutes, and then state police 10-15 minutes later, and then 25-40 minutes later the local police.
Hard to say, I suppose it just depends on what's going on that day.
It is possible for emergency units to be tied up.

Actually I went from jealous to fearful.

When I peeked over, my neighbor has a wooden leg and she kept it on. I thought someone was swinging a bat, but when I saw the other "bat" I knew it'd be to weird it they were dueling.

I've never called 911 because of family arguments, but neighbors have called 911 because of my family's arguments >.>
