A bad time for a Nuclear Dawn?

OK from my opinion Nuclear Dawn on Steam is a solid game; ok the RTS element causes problems for new players as they get kicked out for being rubbish (I have faced that myself!).

However there is one problem, well two; Call of Duty Modern Warefare 3 and Battlefield 3. These come out before Christmas meaning it has some stiff compeition.

Is Nuclear Dawn going to fail due to the timing or will the SDK and Steam community give it a chance at becoming a classic?

Its an FPS, right? Then its doomed to obscurity. Trust me, ANY shooter released over the last half-year is going to take a huge hit to their playerbases. The only one I can see coming out even somewhat unscathed is Gears 3, and thats mostly based on the track record of the previous games.
