Now for those of you have seen the Matrix (which is probably all of you) will know that agents can dodge bullets. But what I'm keep thinking OK so they can dodge bullets, but they can only fight at normal human speed? Now I thought the simple explanation was that the fights were so fast that they slowed it down for the film so it would be cooler, but if that is true how come they can only run at normal speed?

And you know they run at normal human speed because when Neo is being chased by the 3 agents everyone else is moving at normal speed also.

You see drama needs a threat that actually works. If you are right then every character in the Matrix would be dead in 2 mins. Not really a movie if you ask me.

I reckon its because moving that fast is probably exhausting so they only go that fast when being shot at. a bigger mistake is that why in the first film no agent can be beaten (only one good enough is neo) but in the other films everyone gladly takes on the agents and win!? E.G morpheus on the lorry in reloaded

Have you ever seen the Hollow Man? (original or sequel) If you had you would not ask this, the reason is 2 people fighting at speeds we cant see in the rain is boring, who wants to watch special effects fighting each other in a way we cant keep up with.

Its a bad effect and it does not carry across well.

Try playing 'Enter The Matrix'. It explains it as being some attribute called 'Focus' or something, so basically the Agents and Rebels and Programs all operate normally at standard speed and simply focus their minds to do the crazy ass fast stuff, and it takes it's toll, as does any mental power. They physically can't keep it up for too long, so running at high speeds isn't as practical as you may think.

As I recall, that's also explained in the training programs in the first film, too. Pay attention, OP :).

I'm just asking a question , I'm not angry about it or care about it much. The Matrix is still a great film.

I always thought that was strange too, like, when they realized it was all a fake reality they had been living in all their lives (those that came out of the matrix) and that nothing they had ever done had mattered at all, all their thoughts, feelings, interactions with other people a by product of machine code designed to keep them in line like cattle, why didn't they go bat shit insane?

well... I would.

there's nohing wrong with making more matrix films after the first one its a great idea with lots of potential but what a shame they were both rubbish!

I think it's becuase Agents enjoyed the hunt. They underestimated there opponets and did not use there full stregnth. Have you ever noticed how they speak calmly whenever they are faced with Neo or Trinity or Morpheis.

Then when Neo is god like there leader uses his full strength and beats the shit out of him until the ever expected underdog come from behind victory.

Actually making more than one of them.
I don't think it was a mistake.
Have you seen Matrix Reloaded?

My GOD that movie is boring, I mean, I can watch movies where they do nothing else than talk, but COME ON! It's just a bunch of jibberish!
I've seen all three. Some are slightly better than others.

To get laid, of course. Don't you know that pointless nit picking at science fiction movies and television drives women insane with lust?

Slightly is a weak word.
I'm aware of that.

It's a movie, they need drama so they create it.

The biggest mistake I noticed in The Matrix is the fact that they ripped off just about every decent piece of cyberpunk fiction in history and still managed to turn out something that was a pile of wank.

Willing Suspension of Disbelief.

It's a movie.

Also, at points the Agents do fight at speed. When Smith fights Neo in the subway station during the first Matrix, his fists blur as he repeatedly punches Neo in the stomach at one point, indicating super-fast punches.

As for running at normal human speeds, perhaps it's the Matrix sending little impulses to your brain, telling you that they can't poosibly moving at that speed, so you just see them moving at a normal ruinning speed...
