You should never, ever watch Lake of Fire, then. It's actually a pretty good documentary, but you straight up watch two abortions take place and examine the infant's body parts in close detail.

The movie was a major disappointment due to the poor script, but that was one of my favourite parts of it. It was thrilling body horror in the same vein of the chest-burster scene; albeit without the twisted child-birth imagery.

Well due to the horrific plot holes I wasn't really immersed so that scene made me facepalm more then anything, it was just such a bad setup.
First it's the whole super high tech automated operating table, but wait there is a whole gender missing in it's database... right, then the woman shoots up on painkillers like 5 times and the robot table gives her extra anesthetics and she still screams her lungs out... boy those future painkillers got crappy, and the super high tech operating table cuts her open and pulls out the squid with a fucking crane... sorry but was this table programmed for humans or a scrap yard, and what possible combination of that DNA could spawn a fucking squid, and if she is so afraid of it why does the just idly wait in there holding an enormous needle, and later on she is hardly even upset that they all left her to die, doesn't even mention it to people who don't know...

I really wish they spent some of that massive CG budget on half decent writers.

I agree completely - the film had high production values but a really poor script. There were plot holes galore!

I was laughing. More so because most of my friends were cringing at the scene, rather than it actually being funny. Other then that, I didn't find it disturbing in any way shape or form. Survival instincts and all that.

That is only because you, like most others, lack the capability to see things that are implied. rather you need it to be fully presented to you up front.

Shaw states this when we are first shown the table, and also questions why such a device is in the small personal quarters.

It is implied, because of the rarity and capability of this device, that it most likely is there to serve Mr. Weyland in order to extend his live so that he may encounter the 'engineers'. As such, a very rare, very expensive device which is intended to only serve one specific very rich individual wouldn't need the data or parts in order to do proceedures he would obviously never encounter.

As such, i doubt with his age and gender that he would be needing Breast Enhancement surgery or Emergency C-Section...

Local anesthetic only dampens the feeling of the upper tissue.
as for what she was shooting up...

you don't know what it is.

you 'think' it is pain killers, however that may not be the case.
It could be Adrenaline in order to prevent her from going into shock...

as such, adrenaline shots are not anesthetic or analgesic.

In any case, what does it mean in the wider picture? I thought it was unneccesary and only put in there to kill off the alleged 17 crew members, which really was a missed oppurtunity for all manner of alien hijinks.

Well they burned his ass to cinder so I assume they salvaged his remains.

This would be a lot easier if the majority of characters had memorable names, but I think they mentioned the mowhawk guy's name when they see his suit cam is online right outside the entrance. And they did (to my recollection) find only one body at the shrine.

Apparently the acid blood from the alien snake burns through Fifield's helmet, expossing him to the leaking black goo and turning him into "Zombie-Fifield".

I think it was just an example of how the black goop corrupts. Fifield was pretty cold towards everyone on the ship.

The whole movie leaves it wide open for a sequel. I want to know whats the deal with David instead. He finds slime on the walls when they first entered the temple and says "impressive" like he knows where it came from. He comments on how "its every childs wish to kill their parents". He was the only one who could read and operate the glyphs inside the temple and ship, he heard the space jockeys conversation in the hypersleep/pilot chamber, hell he even talked to one of them. (we dont even know what he said, it may not be in the interests of Weyland too)

AS for why he infected Holloway in the first place. Remember how David asked Holloway, what would he be willing to do for answers, "everything" maybe he took that as the go ahead to experiment on him. Find out what it does because Weyland commanded him to "Try harder". And on par with Dr Ash in Alien, it was clear that company bots treated the crew as expendable in favour of the companies agenda. Not until Bishop-bot in Aliens were the droids implanted with (what i assume) are the 3 laws of robotics.

I am also looking forward to the directors cut, which should be 'in production'

Ridley, dont fail us now.
