The thread title makes this seem really serious, I know. But it isn't, really. I do have a challenge, but it's fairly simple, and you can do it right here from the comfort of this window.

I hereby challenge the Escapists to describe the taste of any soda to someone who hasn't tried it before.

This was inspired by Furburt's thread about Sprite vs. 7up. I got to thinking about the tastes of various carbonated beverages, and realized that I didn't really have a way to describe them. Especially the more exotic like Mountain Dew.

So, can you accurately depict, in words, the taste of your chosen soda?

Sounds good. I need to find a new pop (as I call it, not soda) to try. Any suggestions for someone in Toronto?

Dr Pepper combines the flavour of marzipan and cherries to form a refreshing carbonated drink...

I've often had trouble describing the taste of nearly all brown sodas except for root beer which tatses like sasafrass. Thats a fun word.

I think coke tastes like crap, I guess its carmelly (word?) in that fake sugar sort of way.

This is a really challenging task IMO.

Seeing as I have one right now:
Dr.Pepper seems to actually be tasteless, but it does tingle going down.

Jarritos Piña flavored soda tastes like pineapple juice without either the pineapple particulates or abrasive acidity mixed with a bubbling fizziness that produces quite the positive experiences for all lovers of pineapple and soda. The Best of Both Worlds, you might even say.

If you want to know what Red Bull tastes like, imagine a boot, kicking a human stomach, forever.

You have very effectively summed up Dr. Pepper there, and boy, do I love it!

Coke Zero tastes like carbonated water.

You do know that Coca-Cola was formulated to make you forget its taste, right?

Coke tastes sort of spicy, carbonated and almost syrupy. It's a very spiky, sharp flavour.

Mountain Dew.. Reminds me of a cross between lemons and apples, again with that syrupy feeling. Tastes very artificial (obviously), like it shouldn't exist. But it does. And it's yummy.

And I've sounded like enough of a prat today, I think. >.<

Coke tastes like rum. Especially after I pour rum into it.
