Mareep is an anagram of Ampere (A unit of electric current)
Hoppip
Jumpluff
Skiploom.

Wobbuffett look too much like Chuchus to pass off as a coincidence.

In Pokemon Gold/Silver Version, the Goldenrod Gym is arranged in the shape of a Clefairy:

Contrary to popular belief, pressing any buttons while catching a pokemon won't do anything! Next time try to resist pressing A+B+Down. For me it was pressing A as fast as I can.

Hitmonchan's Green Version sprite is a Togekiss and Doduo.

Marill is the water counterpart to Pikachu.
Ledian looks like an Alien

Regions in Pokemon Can be overlayed on a map of Japan.
From bottom to top and left to right: Generation 3(Hoenn), Generation 2(Johto), Generation 1(Kanto), Generation 4(sinnoh)

In Pokemon Red/Blue version, when you meet your rival in Lavender Town (The town with the Pokemon Tower - where dead pokemon are buried), he asks you if you know what its like to lose a Pokemon. He doesn't have his Raticate with him. You killed it last time you battled.

Route 34 in Red/Blue Version is where the breeding Day Care Center is. Thirty-Four, breeding pokemon, do the math.

Mew is classified as the Evolution Pokemon in the pokedex. It looks cute and cuddly.
Arcaus is classified as the alpha pokemon (AKA God) and is scary looking.
The male character form Ruby/Sapphire Version doesn't have white hair. He's wearing a hat. Here is a better look ->

Lt. Surge, the Electric Gym leader, is American (fuck yea). Usually His Voltorb/Electrode knows SONIC BOOM!

[HEADING=3]Super Mario Bros:[/HEADING]

First of all, a history lesson. The Super Mario Bros 2 we've all come to know and love is nothing but an imposter! Its actually Mario-fied version of Doki Doki Panic, another game for the NES. Nintendo thought the true sequel would be too hard so they added mario characters to Doki Doki Panic. That's why there's no goombas, fire flowers, or anything familiar.
So what happened to the real Super Mario Bros 2? In Japan they got it, and years later, they gave it to us on the SNES's Super Mario All Stars. Those Lost Levels? The REAL Super Mario Brothers 2.

.

The 3's Shadow in the start screen of Super Mario Bros 3 is a Tanooki suit. [http://www.wingdamage.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/super-mario-bros-3-nes-review.jpg]

The clouds and bushes are the same sprite! [http://medialib.officialnintendomagazine.co.uk/screens/screenshot_15870.jpg]

Same with mushrooms and Goombas! [http://img684.imageshack.us/img684/9707/goombaq.png]

In Super Mario RPG, if you sleep at one of the Inns, when you wake up you will see link (from zelda) sleeping in one of the beds.

[HEADING=3]Legend of Zelda:[/HEADING]

The dungeon maps form the First Legend of Zelda can be placed side by side to spell ZELDA. [http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii245/Porslinsankan/zelda2nd.jpg]

If you go to Zelda's Courtyard in Ocarina of time, you can look in the windows and see portraits of Mario, Yoshi, and more friends of Mario. (Also, if you shoot a deku seed into the window, a guard will throw a bomb at you as punishment.Video [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hcqd_tVsPsU]

(originally posted on gamespot.com's forums)
One day, Chris Houlihan was just another Nintendo Power reader. The next day he had one of the most elusive Easter eggs in gaming history named after him. Nintendo Power's contest promised that one fan would have the opportunity to own a room in the upcoming third Zelda game, A Link to the Past. For years, few people knew about this Easter egg, because it is, in fact, so difficult to execute. Although there are a few different methods, they all require the Pegasus boots and a certain amount of luck. You need to gain the appropriate speed to launch yourself into his room and not into another one. Inside the room, there are 45 blue rupees and a plaque that reads: "My name is Chris Houlihan. This is my top secret room. Keep it between us, OK?" Although contests have been offered since this one, generally winners get to be unlockable characters or part of the game's progress, not an actual Easter egg. The Chris Houlihan room is one of the more unique and enviable Easter eggs of all time.

Sheik is actually... ZELDA IN DISGUISE!!! :O :O :O

Not exactly Zelda but close enough: In WoW there's an NPC called Linken and he kinda looks like Link. He sends you on a quest to get an item that sorta looks like a triforce Link [http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=8737]

There are two different rupee sprites in Zelda.

[HEADING=2]Voice Actors[/HEADING]

Lightning's voice (FF13) is played by the same voice actor as Liara (Mass Effect).

Princess Peach's voice actor also does Zoey form Left 4 Dead, and Cortana form Halo.

The voice of Teddie from Persona 4 is also the voice of Kakashi from Naruto...

also to contribute i would like to put forth that the guy who voices Nathan Drake in the Uncharted games also voices Desmond in the Assassins Creed series

The guy who does the voice of Raz in Psychonauts is none other than Invader Zim!
Ashley Graham [http://projectumbrella.net/files/images/3415Ashley_copy.jpg] from Resident evil 4 has the same voice actor as Sandy Cheeks [http://nd01.blog.cz/349/911/b5f2ddee01_13058057_o2.jpg] from Spongebob.

[HEADING=2]Uncategorized:[/HEADING]

Robo's Theme from Chorono Trigger for SNES, is that song from Rick astley! Video [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2FUZC3jTSN4&feature=player_embedded#]

GlaDOS from Portal is shaped like a woman. This was intended by valve but its still pretty freaky to look at. Can someone say Uncanny Valley?

I was doing a 3D model of the N64 logo in google sketchup when I realized it had 64 edges. Then I counted again and it didn't really have that number. Oh well, would have been the biggest mind blow ever.

The Main character from Gears of War is Marcus Fenix. Fenix = Phoenix that is why he appears to have fiery wings in this picture. The game isn't so Shallow NOW is it?

Those were really interesting, but I have to admit that I don't get the route 34/day care centre thing. Someone care to enlighten me?

Its a popular internet joke. Rule 34 (one of the 'rules of the internet') states that there is porn for anything you can think of, no matter how innocent or unbelievable. So if someone says "Can someone show me rule 24 of Chun Li" he is asking for Chun Li Hentai. On the flip side, you could see a picture of an airplane fucking a sandwich and go "Augh, rule 34 strikes again!".

Is that so? I remember catching Lugia in Crystal with a pokeball at full health and no status ailments using the Up+B, A+B trick and I'm pretty sure that I used the same for the 3 legendary dogs as well. Yeah, I could've sworn that it was put into help testers catch the more difficult pokemon.

Cool facts by the way, the only one I didn't know about the three legendary birds which I'm really surprised I never noticed.

EDIT: I would say that it makes more sense for the butterfly Pokémon to come from the Caterpillar and the moth Pokémon to come from whatever venonat is supposed to be. Butterfree looks more butterfly like than Venomoth so I find it hard to believe they accidental got swapped around by a programming error, as if nobody would notice that.

Also, electrodes have a negative charge so shouldn't Electrode have a negative face?

Of course.... that went way over my head. Your "do the math" comment in the OP really threw me off =D.

Okay, the fact about your rival's Raticate is... rather depressing, frankly. There should be an option to apologize...

I'm pretty sure that the Route/Rule 34 thing is a coincidence.

It's interesting to see the Butterfree/Venomoth thing. I'm thinking that they were switched because Butterfree is far less ugly than Venomoth, which could be a problem in the anime.

I reckon the 34 thing is just a coincidence, I don't think the rules of the internet were around before red/blue. Other than that...my mind must be somewhere in Poland by now.

That's one interpretation. The other is that his Raticate was a temporary pokemon who took up permanent residence in Bill's PC, and he was simply confused to see you in Lavender Tower. He was there to catch a cubone (and search for the rumored Marowak).

I'll go with the one that's less depressing.

That was pretty cool, I suppose.

The fact that you know these things indicate one of two things:

A: A good, reliable source for information on Pokémon

B: Far, far too much free time

Either way, that was quite awesome
