If you had the power and resources to stage a Coup (Overthrow) of your Government would you? Moreover how would you go about it and would you appoint yourself ruler or perhaps try to go with a different form of government?

All Hail Britannia!

OP: No I would not. I do not have the drive, nor do I want to be in charge of an entire country. I'd rather just have lots of money with no string attached.

I'm not sure if I would. I don't think the government's worth overthrowing at the moment. I'd rather be democratically elected and so have the support of the people (it'd make my bid for world domination a little easier if it was popular).

But if I had to, absolute control of the military and legality would be paramount. When you have a monopoly on force, it means less resistance. Exploiting legal loopholes would mean you don't rely entirely on the military for your claim to power (you don't want the army to feel that they can replace you). But as said, securing popular support would be my first goal.

I live in Australia where we just had a coup, so I guess I'd join the Labor party and work at it from there.

Hmmm, I probably wouldn't want to put myself in power because I damn well know that I would abuse it.

Would just somehow earn a lot of money and then withdraw. I am not educated well enough to take on the responsiblity to lead anything as large as a nation. Although there are a lot of things I would do differently, I suspect that things aren't always as simple as perceived.

On a related note: All hail Lelouch.

Well....the Previous Government, hell Yeah. Let the Bastards fall to their Knees and beg for mercy.

But, seeing as we've recently had an Election for President and all, I'm I'm willing to give the New Government a Benefit of a doubt before we begin marching our men to the Palace.

Yes, I would. My government is so useless at the moment they can't even agree on the simplest of matters. It's just too insignificant and that needs to change.

Whoever he is, I would imagine he's better than Marcos ever was (well, he could run an authoritarian state well enough if it weren't for all the s corruption, in that regard, Indonesia's Suharto was much better).

There are a lot of problems with the Canadian government, and if I had my way there would be some pretty major restructuring efforts, but nothing requiring a coup.

Australia, enough said. This countries leaders need a plank to the head the way they've been running it these past 10 years.
