I bought a copy of Borderlands a few months after christmas last year, at the time I thought it was ok but when I couldn't get past a level 10 mission I stopped playing and traded it in. Well with the recent announcement of a game of the year addition with all the D.L.C it's peaked my interest again so here's my questions.
1: Does Borderlands get better as it progresses?
2: If it does should I get the GOTY edition?

I recommend playing with friends, it makes the game a whole lot better especially if their in the same room as you, if you buy it again. :D

If you play it with friends, it's a hoot and a holler. Otherwise, it's pretty average. It does get better the more you play it though.

yeahh play it with friends
I only had a friend or two really to play with, and I still got bored pretty quickly
personally I needed more motivation than just loot :p (storyy?)

I imagine you got up to the point where you have to kill Bone head, which can be challenging if you're not quite sure what to do or aren't at least level 10. The game has a couple frustrating bosses, but it's nothing that the right equipment or strategy can't handle.

I have a level 61, level 45, and level 21 character. The game, bought for $60, has provided me at least three full day's worth of entertainment. The GOTY edition will be packed with all 4 DLC (including the not-yet-released Claptrap's New Robot Revolution), which is worth $40 itself.

So, personally, I'd buy it if I were you.

The single player remains pretty bad throughout. And the ending is utter crap.

As everyone else has mentioned, playing co-op makes it a fair bit better.

Haven't played the DLC, but I've heard it's mostly alright except for that Mad Moxxi one.

I won't spoil it but suffice it to say the ending is way WAY disappointing. Dr Ned is cool, and I sold it before playing any other DLC.

I just can't get over the complete shitiness to the ending to that game. I have never been as dissappointed by the ending of a major latest generation title before. Playing with a friend offered fun but you can get that elsewhere.

Dude play it with a friend split screen it makes the game a lot more fun, and a tad bit easer as they can revive you instead of waiting for second wind. Fuck it buy it now, and get the DLC later that way you can level up your guys more. The story does sorta get better not brilliant and the ending is a real kick to the nuts, until i got it explained and played it a second time.

I first played it on PC, and I enjoyed it. I plan to get the GOTY myself for 360, because it really was a fun game, and it was pretty damn funny. Seriously, I was finding references to just about EVERYTHING up until I last played it.

Game is awesome. Bought it for my girlfriend so we had something to play together. We've mowed through the original story, Dr. Ned and are currently working on General Noxx. Mad Moxxi was a bit of a let down, but we still purchased it for when we eventually do go to beat it with strangers. For those complaining about little story, I have a feeling they did few side missions. Side missions will carry you through the game, story-wise and strength wise. You'll always be above the level curve if you finish all side missions, but luckily the game still stays difficult enough. In the end, I had a blast but wished Noxx had more teleport points, as driving around is boring.
