gee if you take out porn , youtube like sites and drop all the redundancy ( too much of the same info ) the net is as boring as a library with a school dictionary ... and the gov will be lonely having no one to spy on or look for terrorists

Before you become too impressed, consider this:

The global market for tobacco in 2008 was 396.9 billion ( http://www.researchandmarkets.com/reports/324133/324133.htm ). That's almost 1.1 billion dollars per day. Compared to that, the $145 million from the mobile market is small potatoes - it's about on par with the Western European market for cheese (157 million Euros/day : http://www.researchandmarkets.com/reports/444901 ).

The internet may be huge, but the old markets for products we take for granted still blow it out of the water.

Five million tweets per day, five million pointless, retarded little pieces of bullshit that no one cares about. I think I'm gonna be sick.

Wow, it goes to show what an unstoppable behemoth the internet is.

How much if it do you think is porn? Im going with 60-75%
Exactly 1% of the internet is porn.

Edit: porn that shows up in search engines anyway, legal porn.

I've read the "Is College Worth It?" and OMG, I have to laugh at the American education system. I'd much rather a F430 :D

I once saw some number about how many new web pages are created a day. The rate of growth was almost factorial in speed. It was mind boggling.

Also I seriously doubt that number for the number of people joining facebook is up to date anymore. The number of people joining grows asymptotically nearing the total population slower and slower with time. Eventually, (if facebook is still around at any rate) there will only be one person joining a day, and even more eventually there will be like .01 people joining a day. Yay, statistics!

That article doesn't even address the question of whether an average student even needs their precious four-year degree. Many people are finding out they could have saved four years and many thousands of dollars that they used in school and make just as much money with just an associates degree or just 2 years of technical training. Persoanlly, I believe college is utterly useless unless you want to be a doctor, engineer, or teacher.

check this video called "Trillions. Computing as an Ecology." (http://grinding.be/2009/12/31/trillions-computing-as-an-ecology/) because it will blow your mind in the same way that this article does.

All that information being passed around and nearly zero practical use for it. What isn't there is never going to make up for what is.
