While they as a couple may not be the first on the Escapist, I'm pretty sure "please tell us the story Mr. Spade" is a first. Anywhere.

She bought herself a PS3 a few months ago and has become quite the gamer since, and so I told her about the site and she's made herself a profile

My ex and I were both members of the same gaming forum a few years ago. It's really not that uncommon since couples tend to share a lot of the same interests. If you factor in online dating, it's probably happening everywhere all the time.

Goofiegirl2002 and Ramthundar were one of the first couples that I've run across and they joined the site over 2 years before you. So no, you're not the first.
