This is just an idea for a game I would love to be made.
Basic question: What do you think of it and would you potentially buy something like this?
------------------------
Genre: Tactical Third-Person Shooter.
The story isn't exactly realistic, but I thought it would be interesting, which could be better explained maybe if it was Alternate History
Story: In the near future of 2040, China and Japan have gone to war when China unexpectedly invades mainland Japan. Now the two forces are clashing while China is taking more land while Japan is trying to defend and reconquer lost areas.
Enter a Mercenary nick named Merc, this is you. You either choose to side with the Chinese or the Japanese. This is a fully created character; you pick your gender, race, hair, and so on and choose what class or custom class you are. You level up through the Campaign and the Multiplayer with one persistent character.
There are two main modes of gameplay but then sub-categories in them.
[HEADING=2]Campaign[/HEADING]
Single-Player ? This is where you follow the story from the perspective of either Japan or China, at the beginning of the game you pick a scenario which picks who owns what land and such. Depending of the choices the story can change slightly but stay?s mostly the same but it does change what missions you go on and such.
Online ? Up to Four-player co-op (can be solo though) this skimps on the story but offers a bit more flexibility as it connects to the multiplayer verse where the world map is constantly changing based on Multiplayer matches. While progress can be saved, the world map will change during your off time as people play multiplayer.
During the campaign you will go through various types of missions from all out gun fights to stealth. There will be dedicated levels for Campaign (that is reflecting of your choices) but also some battles which are like Bot matches in MP maps but will still have various objectives. If you have multiple characters you can employ some of them to help you in battles but some will also be on the opposing forces.
[HEADING=2]Multiplayer[/HEADING]
Free-Mode ? This is free from any storyline and is for those who simply want to play matches. There is no factions here but you?re able to play various modes and on all maps. This doesn?t change the persistent world map.
Free-Mode Co-op ? You can play all of the co-op missions without worrying about them to be locked due to conflict.
War ? This is the story multiplayer where you will fight on one side of the war and stick to that until the war ends every Saturday in real time which can result in Japan or China winning.
War ? Multiplayer matches ? These are simply matches in the various areas similar to Free-mode but this effect the map.
War ? Co-op ? these are dedicated co-op missions which like War MP will have an effect on the map. Co-op missions are sometimes locked out depending on current conflicts. These have a large effect on the map then matches but are longer.
Co-op missions can be anything from Stealth, Horde-like mode defense, objectives, and so on.
To get people to play War, Experience is higher in War mode then it is in Free-Mode.
[HEADING=2]Gameplay[/HEADING]
Gameplay has a cover-element that many shooters have, but also has a lean feature so you don?t have to dedicatedly be in cover to lean out. Similar to Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, you run around, go into cover, and aim in third-person but then can look down the sights in first-person mode, you lose some sight (can?t see as much) but have a higher accuracy.
In the single-player your squad can be controlled and given detailed directions. When you do this go you into an Ariel mode above the map where the game pauses and you can set out a path for them to go and give them direct orders of what to do, such as which grenades to use on which spot, when to suppress, fall back, and various other things.
Levels will be non-linear with multiple objectives, so you can tackle them in any way you wish to. You can get your squad to breach doors and such without being told to do it. You can set ambushes and such as well as enemies won?t simply stand around doing nothing as they will form patrols and recon group themselves.
There is no Health-regen so you won?t be able to take many hits so there will be a health bar which will be either longer or smaller depending on your stat raising but also have armor depending on what you?re wearing. Medics are able to have med packs but they?re limited but can be found across various maps. Free-Mode can have regen if the game host says such, but War mode doesn?t.
[HEADING=2]Leveling and Currency[/HEADING]
From battles you will get credits to buy weapons and such and there is no level lock for any of the gear, and it won?t take forever to get money. When you buy a gun though similar to Modern Warfare 3?s system will be able to level up and get cameos and such but also attachments. Currency will also be for your armor you?re wearing which can be colored any way you wish for it. So potential clans in Free-mode or even War can have their symbols (which will be restricted to a point so nothing inappropriate) on their armor and guns.
As you level you will get stat points which raise various things like Strength, Stamina, and Dex.
Strength ? Let?s you use bigger guns in battle and not be weighed down by them and you can run faster with them.
Stamina ? This covers how your stamina bar which covers running and such.
Dex ? Low Accuracy bonus but let?s you able to react faster from things like cover-fire (higher dex less slow from suppression) and able to get up from explosions faster.
There will also be skill points so you can raise various skill trees and either goes dedicated or jack of all trades which is a mix of everything. You can skill reset and stat reset at any time.
--------------------
That?s the gist of it. In my own opinion it?s pretty ambitious and would be awesome if something like this was created.
So once more:
