I apologize if this is not in the right forum, but I looked at all the other forum descriptions, and none really seemed to work for this, so here goes.
This game idea may seem odd, but hear me out with it.
I was watching through the Extra Credits backlog, and I got to their "Becoming a developer" episode, and I thought about the games I had created in Game Maker so far, and how I could improve on them. Basically, all my previous ones had simply been platformers, with one being a shooting platformer, and the other being a stealth platformer. (Yes, I have only made two real games, shut up). From this, I had a spark of an idea: The game would have a hub based mission system, maybe 2 or 3 "platforming" areas available at a time, you unlock more as you progress. Regarding the "Platforming" areas, it would be, say, a forest you are getting a carrot from, with enemies around, and ground to traverse. In the hub would be characters you can talk to, and it would be top down, while in the areas, 2d, sort of like Mario. As you progress through the game, more characters would appear at your hub, with some leaving after a point maybe, opening shops, giving gifts, rpg elements, what have you. Regarding the enemies, there would be two ways to take them out, depending on what direction you are interacting with them. If it is from their front, you would be taken into a turn based rpg screen, reminiscent of Final Fantasy, where, if you are the more patient player, you could level up stuff to be used here, or, if you take them from behind, you are more of a stealth killer, Ala Assassins creed, with less chance of them turning to find you and better jumping as the perks for that, rather than brute strength or magic. Now, this is only my idea, I have no artistic resources to make this, and, while I may be able to figure out how to properly code and design this in game maker, I don't have the proper skills in my head at the current instant. If any of you would like to make this, I wouldn't mind it, though I would like assistance in polishing it. Thank you for listening to my ramble.
