I need to ease some tension before exams and I'd like to know if there are any good FPS games that have a decent online component and are about 30 dollars or less. I heard good things about Borderlands, and CoD 4 is 30 bucks right now.

Note: I prefer to buy from Steam.

EDIT: I already play:

TF2
L4D
L4D 2
CSS
and Garry's Mod

Every single person that posts will say TF2, really, there's no point in even asking, just buy TF2, right now.

EDIT: darn your editing

IMO, both of your suggestions are excellent, especially if you plan on playing Borderlands with friends. And CoD4 is a great game inside and out, a lot more than it's sequel.

TF2.

Do It.
I already have it, as you'll see by the edit.
Does this mean I somehow ninja'd the OP?

Anyway, Try some of the classics, Like HL2, which can be very good with the free downlaod of Synergy.

I'd recommend Cod:WaW before 4 myself. It's $30 and it comes with Nazi Zombies, which I personally loved. I play console though, so my opinion is meh.

Borderlands is good, but it's not really a competitive FPS. It's almost entirely Co-op.

I've really been wanting Borderlands, but people keep saying it "wasn't that good."

I haven't played it since about a month or two after its release, so I don't know how the player base is. Its single-player alone isn't worth full price.

I agree. And firing a double-barreled shotgun in that game is the best feeling ever.

Mind you, I played the 360 version.

CoD 4 is around this price; as is Halo 3, if you have an Xbox.

Unfortunately, Halo 3's multiplayer is only reccomended if you like Halos style of playing. CoD 4 is fun

I.. do believe so. What happens now?

Then theyre wrong. The plot is basically nonexistant, but its a really fun game, especially to play with friends. Guy is right in that its basically all coop, but it does it really well. The quests are good, its got some good funny moments, characters are unique (mostly), gameplay and controls are solid... I think that overall its just a really enjoyable game. My vote goes to this qithout question.

Shattered Horizon seems interesting if you have the computer to run it (I don't). Otherwise, I've also lost many hours to CoD4, though Borderlands I wouldn't recommend unless you're playing with friends.
