With all the doom and gloom in the world, news and to some extent here on the Escapist, one might feel worried about the future. Enjoying life can be hard when you hear "the world is going to end tomorrow because you eat cheese!" or "The stock market is still largely paralysed and massive layoffs are likely to continue. In other news, hundreds have died when a suicide bombing in Generichstan." every day. Looking at the bright side of things seems insignificant, it's all going to hell anyway. Or is it? Do we have to swell in misery and guilt every minute of every day? Can't we, well, take a day off from worrying?
Recently I've had a lot on my mind, a rough time, so to speak. But despite the excrement colliding with the air conditioning unit at a terminal velocity, I had one of the best days of my life last weekend. It was nothing special, just a night out with some friends, good food and few bottles of wine and later just general hanging out and pretending to be discussing something deep and meaningful, while we were actually just cracking dirty jokes and laughing at all the stupid things we had done in the past.
It wasn't a world changing event, we didn't end all the wars in the world, solve the financial crisis or come up with a cure for AIDS. We had fun. A break from the evil world. A good day.
So, have you had what you'd call a "good day"? A day that has made you feel better, helped to put up with the troubles of life or just made you feel happy, even for a little while. Please, share it with us and tell the world you're not beaten just yet. [small] Damn, I do sound daft, don't I?[/small]
