With all the doom and gloom in the world, news and to some extent here on the Escapist, one might feel worried about the future. Enjoying life can be hard when you hear "the world is going to end tomorrow because you eat cheese!" or "The stock market is still largely paralysed and massive layoffs are likely to continue. In other news, hundreds have died when a suicide bombing in Generichstan." every day. Looking at the bright side of things seems insignificant, it's all going to hell anyway. Or is it? Do we have to swell in misery and guilt every minute of every day? Can't we, well, take a day off from worrying?

Recently I've had a lot on my mind, a rough time, so to speak. But despite the excrement colliding with the air conditioning unit at a terminal velocity, I had one of the best days of my life last weekend. It was nothing special, just a night out with some friends, good food and few bottles of wine and later just general hanging out and pretending to be discussing something deep and meaningful, while we were actually just cracking dirty jokes and laughing at all the stupid things we had done in the past.

It wasn't a world changing event, we didn't end all the wars in the world, solve the financial crisis or come up with a cure for AIDS. We had fun. A break from the evil world. A good day.

So, have you had what you'd call a "good day"? A day that has made you feel better, helped to put up with the troubles of life or just made you feel happy, even for a little while. Please, share it with us and tell the world you're not beaten just yet. [small] Damn, I do sound daft, don't I?[/small]

i think everyone's had a good day at least once in their lives, it would be a pretty bleak existence otherwise.
I've had quite a few of late with all my peers turning 18 and having excellent parties and dinners and whatnot.

Nah. In fact, it's the foundation of a world religion, Buddhism: the idea that we make our on misery by our mind's natural tendency to wander to things that bother us.

A good day for me is any day with activities that my mind well away from such worries without interruptions.

all the time, tbh just getting a phone call from a friend can make my day significantly better. I'm easily pleased.

This December/January just gone I was rock climbing in Redrocks, Las Vegas. On the first of Jan I saw in the new year on the Vegas strip, and then did a multi-pitch climb called solar-slab. Far below my climbing ability I was able to breeze up it and just enjoy it for what it was, a beautiful climb with amazing scenery, all in perfect sunshine with two very good friends. Lasted the entire day. I'll remember that day until I die.

Every day is a good day at school lunch times, because you just don't think about that. It's just a time to chat and joke around. And especially when I go Rockclimbing every Wednesday, yesterday I conquered my rockclimbing enemy, the WALL I LOSE LAUGHABLY TO EVERY TIME I TRY (Will Tetit) It's a random name from some guy I don't know!

I have good days. Today isn't really one of them, one bad thing after another keeps happening. But with things are bad they can only get better, right?
Even if they don't get better for a while I can still kid myself with a smile and sunny optimism.

When an old friend from New York IM's me to invite me over for New Year's. That always makes me ridiculously happy :D. That, and rare days I have off (like today) just me, a duvet, chili heatwave Doritos and Law & Order: Criminal Intent seasons 1-3 boxsets. That is a fantastic day.

I did 3 matches in a row where I killed more people than I died on MW2.

Sounds sad I know but i've been doing exams all day today.
