A good e-book PDF reader?

I am planning to get a e-reader at some point in the future, but the problem is most of my books (technical manuals, dungeons and dragon accessories, stuff like that) are in the PDF (adobe acrobat) format. Having tried transferring one of them to my dad's kindle I have found that a normal kindle will not be a good option as the print is very tiny and while you can zoom in, that makes scrolling around awkward. A Kindle DX might work better as it has a bigger screen, but I don't know anyone with one and thus I cannot try it out before putting down 300 dollars for one. I have also considered an ipad, but those are 600 dollars, which is probably out of my price range for what I want to use it for. I also know there are other brands such as the nook, but I know very little about how well they can display PDF files. I might get a notebook if I cannot find a good option, but as I want something I can use "on the go" a notebook is fairly low on the option list.

So, if anyone can give me a suggestion on a good e-book reader that can display PDF files well, I would really appreciate it. A color screen would be nice but not vital, and the more storage space it has the better.

I just ordered on of these: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=19180&CatId=6957

With $30 coupon, was less than $100. And Android!

I know, not a great tablet by any stretch, but for what you're looking for, should fit the bill, and do much more.

The color Nook can also be rooted and turned into a tablet. I've heard some good things about it....
