I've got moderately far in I Wanna Be The Guy, by far I mean a Boss. It annoys me because it's just trial and error difficulty, so whenever you die you know what to do and feel you can get past that screen now.

I have Dwarf Fortress installed, keep taking looks at it and just not having a clue what is going on. When I next feel like reading a huge novel I might pick up a DF guide instead.

I played Ragnarok Online on a private server for about 4 years and loved every second, but it is seriously grindy but also tons of fun if you like that kind of thing. Also, War of Emperiums in ragnarok online are quite fun. That is my only recommendation but you have to play on a good private server that doesn't add its own stuff to the game, and preferably one that has reasonably low rates (3/3/2 or 5/5/3 are what I played and they were both very acceptable)

Well I've played tons of MMOs(of which only WoW wasn't free) and I'm not saying that that qualifies me (especially since in most of them I only get to level 10) and I must say probably my favorite is DDO I even enjoyed it more than I enjoyed WoW but I kinda had a Hate relationship with WoW since the moment I found out I bought it (because it was inside of my Warcraft III battlechest instead of WarCraft III) so that might have something to do, and please don't tell me I could have gone back to the store to get WIII because I bought it somewhere in the middle of Arizona and back then I used to live in Guanajuato (in case you don't know it's somewhere in the middled of Mexico)... well I got sidetracked anyway the ones I've enjoyed are DDO, Dragonica Online and MapleStory (although I might be a little biased with that last one since it was my first MMO) I've heard that Runes of Magic is supposedly really good wouldn't know when I downloaded it there was an error in the server and I couldn't play it never tried again though, but by far the ONE online game I've had more fun with it's a free game called League of Legends (or LOL for short), man I love that game, it's not technically an MMO as it's more sort of an arena based multiplayer (up to 10, 5 per team) RTS in which you can only control one hero Unit there are over 30 different playable champions all I got to play with had very different gameplay styles, the only reason I don't play it anymore is because the PC I used to play it burned in a fire and this one that I have now doesn't run it (because it's really crappy it takes half an hour to open a folder and then it crashes).



Well and if you're to lazy to read all that basically I ended up saying play a game called LOL (League of legends) even though it's not an MMO it's free and it's Online.

World of Tanks,it's an MMO, not really and RPG, but it's a hell lot more fun,and it runs on alot of weak pcs.

Another MMO ( not mmorpg like wow) is League of legends like previously stated,probably the best free game out there.

If you played WoW, you have ruined all other MMOs for yourself, especially free ones . I can't recommend anything because I can't think of one better or even close to WoW.

Guild Wars, it does a number of things better than WoW.

Yeah I tried that... for a bit. One of them games that could have potential at some point... or could have had 5years ago anyway. Feels like playing on an old private WoW server to me

Ya my wife really likes their games. She plays Shai(sp?) and Grand Fantasia.

I absolutely agree. I played WoW for about 4 years and finally got tired of paying for what was beginning to feel like a job (I was a GL.) Someone told me about Aeria Games and I've looked through a couple of different ones. They have a bunch of different themes, I'm currently playing Shaiya. It's an 18+ game, not as many different races/classes as WoW and there aren't Tradeskills involved at this point, but the Trade Channel isn't constantly flooded with Anal jokes, the graphics rock, and I love the game play. They're in the early stages of upgrading to the new lvl cap of 70 atm and adding a bunch of new content.

With the Aeria Games, all are free to play. You can purchase AP (Aeria Points) for cash or win them through contests to buy in game items for any of the games, but you aren't required to. If you don't have the cash or time to participate in contests, they also award in game prizes of AP items and you can buy them for the in game currency from other players as well so the cash spenders don't have access to anything that the non-spenders do.

The Chronicles of Spellborn.
It's the most original MMORPG [well, at least the Fighting-System] I have seen so far.
The problem is that almost noone plays it and so the world seems to be a bit empty.

You liked that game? It was very restriced to people who don't pay. Also, it really seemed a bit....errrrrrm......outdated. It was like a WoW Beta's Beta. It's buggy/laggy/unfriendly.

OT:Well it's sort of free: Diablo 2's online. Its weird yet fun.

Oh dear god no. Sorry but Guild Wars is just awful. There are no people out of towns unless they are in your party and even worse is that every good weapon has to be bought, boss drops are nearly useless.

Dungeon Fighter Online (DFO, as stated before) is actually a blast.
It's - get this - an MMO in which you have to actually press buttons to hit things instead of clicking and waiting!
If you just shit your pants, I'm sorry.

Slightly less bitter about MMOs: If you like old games like Final Fight and other assorted side-scrolling beat-em-ups, you'll enjoy it if not at least for the nostalgia factor. (Nostalgia shaded goggles are nice sometimes.)
Otherwise, it may not be your thing.
