Hey, I've been wanting to play some old PS1 games and since my old PS2 is broken I was hoping to find a good emulator. I've tried PSX, but it won't work because I'm missing some .bin file, so could anyone recommend a solution or a different emulator.

- Aren't those illegal?
He asked with an unsure mind and disappeared back on to the rooftops.

You have to own the BIOS, which if you have a broken PS2, you do own.

Epsxe is the best one out there I believe.

The .bin file is needed, and it's not included when you download the emulator because of copyright reasons or something. It's still very easy to find, just google it.

Though technically you're only allowed to rip it from the console, not download it. Though I don't think there's ever been a case of it appearing in court, and it's such a petty matter I don't think there ever will be.

I'm quite confident if it ever did go to court the judge would rule that since you own the hardware, you're allowed to download the BIOS, just like if you have a scratched disk you could get away with downloading a torrent even if you didn't rip the image yourself.

Quite probably. Though it's never been tested.

emulators are not illegal, it's the downloading of roms and isos that is.
