but thanks for the heads up
This is The Escapist, half of us are english teachers (or at least we think we are).
Or we're just far too concerned with grammar than would be considered healthy. >.>
Well, at least it's refreshing to see proper grammar on the Inter-blag.

OT: For the movies I'd say The Dark Knight

Resident Evil 4
Ninja Gaiden 2 (current Gen)
Kingdom Under Fire Heroes
Battlefield 2

Also Kotor 1 was a better game than kotor 2 in my opinion.

Ninja Gaiden 2

Persona 4 in terms of really tighting P3's mechanics even if it lost (IMO), P3's excellent pacing.

Wild Arms 2, took the series in an interesting direction away from it's fairly typical predecessor.

KH:358/2 day: as a semi sequel to Chain of memories for not bringing back that god-awful card battle crap.

Firstly, punctuation: what is the reasoning for including such silly punctuation as "?!?!" That sort of punctuation simply does not exist. A question mark is perfectly adequate. Your title makes it seem like you're in my face, screaming your question at me like some sort of ten-foot tall gerbil on cocaine.

Few sequels, IMHO, have been better than the originals. Some have things that are better than other things in the first, but very few are truly better than the original.

A few ones of note however: Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn, Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Diablo 2, and Icewind Dale 2 and Super Mario Brothers 3.
That's a rather specific example. I agree with you on Ocarina of Time i used to play the hell out of that game with my brother, also Star Fox 64.

I want to say Half life 2, I really do...but I can't!

Maybe Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn. It really improved on Baldur's Gate, creating more freedom and IMO a better universe and greater gameplay.

Also:

Jedi Knight 2. I rest my case.
Is that, Jedi Academy? Because that was definitely better than the first one (where you play as Kyle Katarn, right?)
Honestly, playing a third of the game as an FPS with no lightsaber was just stupidity. IT'S STAR-WARS, WE WANT A LIGHTSABER PEOPLE!

Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon, any Commander Keen, except for 3.5/7. Uhh... Half Life 2. Team Fortress 2... Does CS:S count? If so, then that.... Thief 2, so far, as I just started it.

TF2 and Powerstone 2, but The original powerstone had 2 other characters, but Powerstone 2 was a bit better.
Also, I have to say, Sonic adventure. The level design in Sonic adventure 1 was better, but sonic adventure 2 was just overall better.

This is in the off-topic section yet nobody seems to mention anything besides games. How about stuff like films?

PS: "The Rescuers Down Under" kicks ASS!

You too. Get out. The doors over there.
Why didn't you like BioShock 2?

Anyway, IN MY OPINION... BioShock 2 was better than the first... Mass Effect 2 was much better than the original, all Metal Gear Solid sequels improved upon the first, Left 4 Dead 2, Uncharted 2, Assassin's Creed 2, Resident Evil 2, (And following sequels) Gears of War 2, and someone mentioned Red Dead Redemption... While technically a sequel, it's... eh. Red Dead Redemption was undoubtedly superior to Revolver, in fact, incredibly superior. And this is coming from somebody that loved Revolver.

There are likely more, (Most of them probably older games that haven't been on my mind in a while) but that's what I can think of for the time being.

Ragh! How could I forget Spyro 2 and 3!

No no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no... and no.

I liked Gears of War 2 better than Gears 1... mostly because I could actually see more than 3 feet in front of me because someone decided to turn on a light or two. Sims 2 was also better than Sims 1... but Sims 3 was the worst. And I don't know if you can count this, but Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War - Dark Crusade was better than Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War. And Call of Duty: United Offensive was better than Call of Duty.

You can leave as well. Does this face look like it's joking to you? And you can take your box of cupcakes with you, as well. They had coconut on them and no where here likes coconut.
Oh, my bad, I have a different opinion than you, I apologize greatly.

No, you don't understand. I'm on the internet, so that means my opinion is fact and anyone who doesn't agree is probably either gay or retarded.

*That was only a joke. Don't get offended.*

Don't let Yahtzee fool you, not all sequels are bad. Star Wars battlefront 2 got better and the next one is going to be even awesome-er, giving us back the aircraft on ground missions without getting rid of the Space Missions (i.e. combine them).

The PS1 Crash Bandicoot games improved massively over their predecessors. Crash 3 was brilliant.

That was actually the first thing that made me laugh today, even though it was a joke, because it is basically 90% of the internet.

So, basically, my stance on Bioshock as a series is this:

Bioshock 1 was OKAY. At first it was tense, cool-character-full and atmospheric. The badguys were scary, and that surgeon guy scared the shit out of me. Theeeeeen, after I killed him, it's like the awsome character division all died. It became simply an okay shooter. The awsome character division only came back twice, to do Ryan, and that musician guy (who is probably my favourite character in the game). Besides that, Bioshock was simply an okay shooter, which I don't want. I want a damn fine kickass shooter, like TF2.

So at the end, Bioshock 1 was simply tense and atmospheric, until you turn into a big daddy and get all adamned up, realize that you're the god of ruining peoples day, and fuck shit up.

So at the VERY end, Bioshock 1 was only atmospheric.

Bioshock 2 then thought about it for a while, then decided that it wouldn't be having any of that, turned you into a big daddy at THE START, to remove the tensness, gave you no interesting characters to ahh at, and then made you a vulnerable as shit big daddy. At this point the atmosphere and believability dissapeared.

So Bioshock 2 was nothing. But shit.

And that my friends, is simply unnacceptable.

I personally consider Fallout 3 to be better than fallout 2, Halo 2 better than Halo CE, Mass Effect 2 better than the first, and saints row 2 better than the original. Just to name a few.

PRecisely my take, with the excpetion that I LOVED Bioshock 1. That game did not need a sequel, not at all. All loose ends had been severed, Rapture was in chaos, the splicers were either dying or loose upon the world. Nobody needed to go back to rapture, especially not for a story that seemed like it was thought up last minute by a lazy employee who woke up two minutes before a meeting and said "Holy shit, I need a new pitch or im going to be fired!" the plot was stupid, the tension gone, it basically became just another FPS. No mood, nothing to set it apart, none of that. It is a game that simply should not exist.
