I was wondering if anyone on the forum could help me , you see i`ve just bought empire total war (special forces ed) and have had no problem installing it , but the when i try to start the game up i see a plain white screen eventually what i assume to be the in- game cursor appears then my computer tells me that the program has stopped working , given my limited knowledge as to how a PC works i`ve been able to narrow it down to 2 factors it`s either

1:the graphics card doesn`t have the adequete shader model (though i`m pretty sure it does)
or
2: the processor is not powerful enough to run the game

any help as to what`s wrong and what to do would be appreciated

It sounds like the graphics card, honestly, but it could be that your computer doesn't have the raw power to run it. The issue is, however, you can explain to me all day what the problem looks like and sounds like, but unless I'm there, looking at the problem, I can't say for sure.

"Onyx used Helping Hand!"
"Onyx is ready to help timmytom1!"

As for what the problem is, if you know that its one of those two issues, try improved versions of both.

Well i`m not 100% but i`m about 80% sure it`s between those 2

Have you tried running it in compatibility mode?

I had a similar problem with Bio Shock on Windows7. Had to set it to run as in XP.

What is your video card, to start, and how much RAM do you have in your system?

Have you updated your graphics drivers recently?

Does your system meet the minimum specs for the game? (It never hurts to check; god knows some people don't.)

Make sure you get any patches that are out for the game. I know on release it was extremely dodgy.
