IMHO the lyrics are easier to understand than your average metal song as far as I can hear. Not to say that it's all screaming, but they seem to take too much of a back seat to the point where I can't really hear what they are saying. And that song, is one of many more that don't involve 'bitches guns and money'.

That being said Maxwell, what type of musics appeal to you?
I'm not arguing with that - metal does strike me as a lot of needless screaming - guys, I cannot hear your lyrics about the Dreadlord Satan or whatever if you are screaming them so hard your vocal cords bleed.

I still just am not a big fan of rap in general - if you spent every day listening to people listen to the same shitty Top 100 song (which I no longer have to) about ho's or Superman (the fuck?) or whatever, you would probably be a little biased too.

Not only that, but people who play rap music seem to have a problem with volume control, similar to the problem metal singers seem to have: There is no fucking way you can hear the music if the bass is so high I can feel the ground shake 100 feet away.
It's just not even possible. At that point, it's just noise. Really loud, obnoxious noise. I'm not saying "you can't listen to music," I'm saying "nobody else wants to fucking hear - or god forbid, feel - your music, turn it down."

...Man, I get wordy when I'm tired.

I only listen to a handful of bands, maybe 200 songs in all.
Most of it is alternative rock or what have you.
Fixed, that song is actually about sex, so your back to square one.

Max... I'm an 18 year old guy, I know what you mean. Soulja boi is CRAP, I'm ashamed to like a genre that includes him. I used to have to listen to The Game's "Dreams" repeatedly about two years ago. Now, I don't have a problem with the song, just I heard it when he was still underground, and I was bored with him when he released it mainstream. Cue everyone talking about how awesome he is, including a couple of people I'd told about him when I first heard it.

Out of interest... care to indulge me in some Max music? I know you said "Alternative Rock", but hey, I guess you'll be able to educate me on a genre I know basically nothing about?

That doesn't magically make it better.

I could, but I could also nail you to a wall through your eye sockets.
In case the connection eludes you, it is that you would probably not enjoy either activity.

But sure, why not.
I listen to...
Well, it's like I said, some of it falls under the same genre, but not all of it.

Explosions in the Sky (instrumental band,) Green Day (pop-punk/alternative) Rise Against (hardcore(?) rock)...
Those are the ones that fall under some banner of "rock."

I also listen to things like Owl City (which a friend introduced me to, perhaps because she felt I wasn't feminine enough,) and a few things from other bands that I don't listen to regularly.
Why would you assume that I wouldn't enjoy hearing someone else's music taste? Some of Rise Against's stuff is OK, it occasionally gets mixed into my Last.fm channel, and I don't find it too unbearable. Greenday, same thing happens due to the presence of Artic Monkey's on my playlist, so yeah. Time Of Your Life was actually one of the songs I listened to on repeat when my godfather died, there's a lot of sense on that track. Explosions in the Sky and Owl City are both new ones to me, I guess I've got something to look up on youtube :p

i dunno it sounds like a good idea. other games that contribute to "gangsta" stereotype seem too generic for me, and it's good to know that someone's doing something different for once.

Fair warning: Owl City is some sort of pop/techno abomination that is roughly like shooting up liquid happiness.
It makes your ears grin.
Please do not panic - this is natural.
(assuming you can tolerate it, that is)
This sounds a lot like what happens when I listen to Just Jack actually :p

EDIT: Gratz on 11k by the way

Goddammit!

I always miss new landmarks. I didn't even notice I was anywhere near 11k.
I get the same way when I listen to Shonen Knife.

As for this game.... I guess it might have a niche market?

No more niche than any other game. It's got real rapper voice overs, so that will mean that quite a few TI/whoever fans will buy it because it's *his* game.

And every shooter is Doom? Just because it's from the same genre doesn't mean it's the same game.

The derogatory comments that people have left about Platinum Life and its target market insult my sensibilities. It?s been suggested that urban youths (black, Hispanic and other minority groups) are too stupid and too poor to get the concept of MMORPG's so what's the point of making the game. Did you just say that out loud? Really? For those of you who gave bigotrous replies because you thought we weren't watching since we?re too poor to afford computers and too stupid to return thoughtful replies, here's one just for you: Its clear you?ve done no fact gathering before you opened up that trap door you use for a brain and decided to post. Second Life (hated or not) boasts hundreds of thousands of players who compose the Urban/Hip Hop RPG base inside that MMO. Effectively, those same people substantially contribute to the millions of dollars spent monthly by all RPGers within Second Life. Be smart; turn on the news.

Im excited for this, I live and breathe Hip-Hop, and the way they talk about, is getting me excited, though I know I don't have the voice, or the endurance, or the creativity to be a rap star, heck, it dosn't mean that I would give up the chance to be one. And well, whats a video game if it dosn't transport us to a world where anything is possible? I will definetly be picking up the game when it comes out.

Ahh lupe Fiasco, the greatest quarter flip in all of Hip-Hop History

Food & Liqour to The Cool, two wayyy diffrent albums. I like F and L more though, Gemstone really hurt the second album for me.

Well this is just stupid, nobody who posted here even talked about the damn game! ('this is cool' or 'it won't work' doesn't count)

For the sake of discussion and not a [CENSORED BY ZEON], I gotta admit...the party system sounds really cool, I just love the comparison of a DJ to a healer, besides, that's true, the DJ keeps the crowd happy.

Only one thing disappoints me, I was hoping that players would be able to write and sing their own lyrics within the game...regardless, I think I'll follow the development of this game, if only for the fact it's something new.
