A leak indicates that the next Call of Duty will return to WWII.

That would be interesting. World War II has always begged for a high end update to those 90s/2000s shooters. I want to see huge open D-Day environments, with hundreds of soldiers on screen at once.

I'm "meh" about this.

Extra Credits highlighted this well, that there's a lot to cover in WWII, but in media, especially in games, it's always the same old locations, over and over. So, judging by the supposedly leaked screenshots, we can count on an Omaha/Utah scene (god forbid Sword, Juno, or Gold ever get the spotlight), and likely yet another tale of US forces going across Europe. I'd say we could at least count on the British and Soviets being playable again (or heck, even the Canadians and Poles, per CoD 3), but considering how CoD has been about singular heroes for quite awhile now, I wouldn't be surprised if it goes the MoH route, and be all US, all the time. Heck, even MoH had you playing as a US soldier in Berlin, because those damn Reds couldn't possibly take the Nazi capital by themselves.

If this is coming off as anti-Yank, it's certainly not, but there's a certain myopia in WWII games, in terms of both protagonists and theatres of war. Taking the leaks as being legit, I don't see this supposed WWII CoD game changing that.

I've been pining for a World at War II for years. Maybe it will take notes from Battlefield 1 and feature relatively obscure facets of the war, like in mainland Asia or the Phillipines. I mean, I don't mind them wanting to show off Normandy in glorious 2018 (19?) HD, but that had better not be the only focus.

At the very least, this could mean mundane soldier protagonists again, as opposed to super soldiers and spec-ops.

Just when the series was starting to get interesting with BLOPS2 & 3 and Infinite Warfare (never played Advanced Warfare). Sci fi shooters are always more interesting to me than Modern or historical war settings.

I'll take the laser over the AK47 any day.

Meh I might give it a rentail but not much more unless they do something to make multi-player interesting again or the single player replayable like blops2. And even if they do that the game will have to drop down to at least $30.

If they do a Next Gen Omaha Beach level than I might be interested.
Funny, i'll be interested as long as they make us fight in different places than Normandy or Stalingrad this time.

Plus of course, if they cut down the bullshit in their business model, otherwise i'm not interested in paying for multi.

After the fiasco with both IW and MWR, I lost all interest in CoD. It is finally totally dead to me.

Well, that's a lie. I am interested in (and enjoy) seeing them fuck up more and more.

I mean, for fuck's sake, they had a broken beer bottle as a DLC melee weapon in MWR! Bad enough its a beer bottle, but they also promised not to do this.

Battlefield and CoD are like two people who hate each other but everyone knows that they just need to fuck and get it over with.

That has always been the cycle. CoD does something, Battlefield follows. Battlefield does something, CoD follows.

Credit given to at least be doing a different war from each other this time. But it's the same thing. It's like watching cousins make out.
Very much agreed. Looking at this piece of 'news' (provided it turns out to be true), I can almost taste Activision's salt from when the last CoD trailer's dislike ratio went straight through the roof and Twattlefield One was all the hype.

If they wanted to outdo Battlefield they should have gone further back.
CoD: Civil War!
Looking forward to shooting some confederates.
