Find a download for guitar pro 5. Look up tabs/techniques and read forums and watch videos. Whatever you do just practice as much as possible. Find a style you like and just sit there and freestyle.

I'd try to learn some chords first from basic chord sites. (I know I did)

After that, just look up some songs on youtube you want to learn. You'll stumble upon tutors that suit your style and learning curve. Go with them.

A: No they don't. You just need to find one that's an actual guitar tutor, not someone who plays guitar that you asked to teach you.
B: What on earth makes you think finding one on the internet is going to be better?

I've learned a couple by watching this guy. he plays it so you can hear it, and then plays it slow, and breaks it into parts you can practice and does a pretty good job of explaining what he's doing.

This. Honestly Guitar Pro is the most useful guitar program out there.

You could try just typing in the song you want into youube and adding something like tutorial on the end.
I have only watched one of this guy's videos and he seems ok. I don't really need help very often though so I wouldn't know who is good and who isn't.

EDIT: Two people in a row recommending JustinSandacoeSongs. He must be doing something right.
