Ok, so heres some back story. Im broke. Im always broke, and no matter how many times someone says "get a job", it wont put any more money in pocket. Its alot easier to just leave it alone. So, knowing this, let me ask your opinion on something.

I actually lied. I have a little money. But not enough for me to ever get all the things I want, or even 20% of them. Not that I care(I really do). But my question is, should I spend the few pennies I have on phsychonauts? I think it's kind of silly to ask a forum of people a very easy question, but Im honestly torn. On one hand, this cash could be better spent on future DLC for some games I already have(rock band, mass effect, cod4), but on the other hand, Im bored, and looking for a game to tide me over until army of two drops.
Im really just looking for a little motivation. Should I take the plunge? or am I just bored, on a sunday, with a little bit of change burning a hole in pocket?
Thanks in advance for any helpful comments and witty remarks.

Stifling the urge to make said witty remark, I will throw in this (which is the criteria I try to use): It's not as if this is a new game. Everything that's going to be said about Psychonauts has pretty much already been said (amazing level & character design, wacky humor, craptacious controls, etc.). Plus, it isn't as if this would be a very expensive game; it's probably in the bargain bin section of whatever electronics store you frequent. Knowing all that, if you are still intrigued, just go buy it. You were curious enough to make this post, so you obviously want it. Bite the bullet, lay down the cash, and if you have to, eat ramen for a week.

I've had far more fun with my second hand copy of Psychonauts than with any of my DLC. (Excluding Zelda: Ocarina of Time, but that was a whole game.) DLC just buffs up an exisiting game by maybe a day or two's play in my book, assuming it doesn't transpire to be a massive waste of money. Psychonauts is many days play and brilliant to boot. Buy it.

If you don't want a great story, great characters, great dialogue, good replayability and a little trickiness, don't get it.

Otherwise, run to your store (even if it's online) and say "Yes, I was wrong before. I don't deserve this masterpiece of a game but I'd like to offer you the last of my money because I still think Tim Schafer should make more of these stunning games."

Phsychonauts is a fun game. I highly recommend you get it, otherwise your stuck shooting people for the rest of your life.

P.S.- there is more to life than shooters, try some other games, have fun!

Play the demo. I didn't like the demo at all so never bothered to get the main game.

At the end of the day although i agree in theory that innovative and quirky games should be supported by people buying them i won't buy a game simply for this. Hence why i play demos...

The only person who can tell you if you will enjoy a game is YOU. I think STALKER was the best game of last year, you may think its utter shit. Whos right? Well to you, YOU are right and for me its ME.

I guess the questions is do you like crazy, cartoony, original platformers?
