Has anyone been able to figure out how you level up your Charm/Intimidate abilities? I haven't been able to spot those in any of the screenshots so far. (Personally, I'm hoping that you won't have to bother with points at all. I always kind of thought it'd be better to have those abilities tied to your Paragon/Renegade levels, so that the more you use them, the better you get at them. And, you know, that way you could use the points for your combat abilities instead.)

It's all been turned into one skill - "negotiation" - and that's it.

I hated ME1's "charm/intimidate" method, what a waste of 24 skill points.

I thought it was a bit overblown for the amount fo ties that you used it, but it was a good way to plan out how you would play your character down the road. Lumping the two skills together seems a bit cheep, but I can understand how that would probably be more realistic given that people who are good at reading people and can figure out how to best apporach the situation probably could do both.

I want to get rid of "negotiate", and just throw people out of windows.
or get a special "bassist" skill tree.

I prefer it as one talent, they really strongarmed you into getting one of the two maxed in the first one, otherwise you'd miss out on a lot. I hope its not so much of a chore this time around.

Oh, and watch out, if shepard gets too much renegade, he might not keep that pretty new face for long. ^_^

And after they worked so hard on reconstructing his face. Well at least alignment altered appearance is a pretty cool idea.

Um, why did you do both? It wasn't a waste if you only invested in one, but why two?

Defenestration is an 'advanced' negotiation tactic...

How in the hell is throwing some poor sod of a roof negotiating?
[small]I would think it fits for strength[/small]

I'm unclear on how exactly that works, too. It made sense in KotOR, what with the Force and everything--do whatever implants Cerberus put in Shepard really care if s/he chucks some guy off a ledge?

I invested in both because I wanted to have all dialogs so I wouldnt have to be kind to someone I dont like and still get my will through.

It's possible to get 4 free charm/intimidate points per game. That's 8 free points per session. Play through 3 times and you can max both charm/intimidate without having to divert points from your combat skills. This is usually what I do. Three quick plays to max everything out (including level) and then one "master" playthrough to use charm/intimidate as I see fit. It's nice because even good guys can be a little nasty at times. :)

I didn't find a particular problem with Mass Effect's Charm/Intimidate system, though it's true it ate up a lot of my points since I always wanted to make sure one of them was maxed so I wouldn't miss out on dialogue opportunities. Still though, this condensed Negotiation system sounds much better.

no it isn't, it wasn't in Fabel, why would it be any good here, you go through all the work of choosing how your character looks just to have it change on you, seems stupid.

You can get rid of the scars any time you want.

Also, if you play as a Paragon, they will heal by themselves.

As for the charm/intimidate points, they have merged them with the Paragon/Renegade system. The more renegade Shepard is, the more intimidation options you unlock. The more paragon Shepard is, the more charm options you unlock.

I didn't mind the old system that much, especially since it was pretty easy to get all the charm/intimidate points while still being able to get most if not all of the skills you wanted
