A moral quandry.

So, a hacker just hacked my inactive WoW account, bought me time, didn't change my password or add an authenticator, or cancel his card.

I was able to simply log in and change my password, and now I have what I believe is this hackers card on my account subscription.

Now, while I could keep it on there, and have free WoW until it expires, I'm kind of stuck wrestling with myself about doing it.

What, my fellow Escapists, would you do in this situation?

The card wasn't any family members or roommate of mines. That was the first thing I checked. Also, obviously not my own card.

For someone to be that stupid, he would surely deserve it for you to use the time he pays for until he cancels his credit card.

However, he could also be using someone else's credit card at which point it would be best to just cancel it all yourself.

I think I would use the time already paid for, but take the card off the account. Other options are informing Blizzard of this mistake so they could reimburse the money in-case the credit card was stolen.

Keep the free WoW, his fault for hacking into someone-else's account, technically he was breaking the law so it's fair he gets punished in some-way.

If I knew for certain that this was the hackers card, I'd have absolutely no qualms with keeping it on there, however, as some have stated, it's entirely possible that it's a stolen card.

I wouldn't buy anything, incase it isn't the hackers card.

But I would also use the time that's already been payed for.

you dont want to leave yourself open to the police and fraud charges safest thing to do is remove it and if you want to contact the police they may want to track the hacker down and give her what for the time that has been paid for was someone else crime so you probably wont be attacked for it in which case its fine to use it

Change your password definitely, and enjoy the free wow he bought you, but don't buy anything else. Again, it might not be the hacker's card.
