I just finished reading this and I have trouble thinking of a game with more references than borderlands 2. Think you can top this?

Edit:http://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/List_of_references

Nevermind, Borderlands 2 doesn't shine a candle to TF2 when it comes to references.

Hyperdimension neptunia . Terrible game , with many terrible references that aren't even witty or clever . If you never heard of this game , count yourself lucky .

Destroy All Humans! and Destroy All Humans! 2 might be good contenders.

The names and the tag lines for both games alone are references.

Morrowind had heaps and heaps of easter eggs referencing pop culture. The classy part was how subtle they are. For instance, in the expansion Bloodmoon, there's a cave with a skeleton hanging from the roof, frozen in ice, with one arm free stretching for his sword. I didn't even realize it referenced Star Wars until years later. Generally, I tend to get pissed off at games that make really obvious references (like Bioware tends to do) but love those that can go entirely over your head the first time (Bethesda style)
I probably wouldn't count that as my shining example of subtlety but OK. And are Bioware references really that obvious?

Just to be clear, are we counting this as a point in Borderland's favor? Because I really don't see the point of pop culture references.

Damn those ninjas! But yeah, almost every line in that game is some sort of reference. And a lot of what you encounter. And practically all the achievements. I laughed my ass off from start to finish, especially this bit from the beginning (and I found an aptly named video):

Bloodlines, while not having a lot of pop culture references, does have hell of a lot of just references subtly scattered throughout (came in to say this after I saw the title. Couldn't let disappointment let me down).

I would have thought the Telltale Sam & Max games have a reasonably high density of them. Especially Devil's Playhouse

Oh damn, I think you've just reignited my liking for Iron Maiden.

It's like 14-year-old me just sprung back to life.

Heavy Metal acts as a defibrillator for him.

Maybe I can bring back 13-year-old me with some anarchist propaganda.

OT: I'm not sure I get this sudden explosion in references in games all of a sudden. Is everyone trying to be funny? Because it's not really...yeah.
