So, I've never found an online multiplayer that has ever truly "clicked" with me. I don't know what it is, I like to think I'd enjoy an online FPS multiplayer, but when I try, I get nothing. Maybe I'm not looking in the right place. My question is this: Is there any truly unique, different multiplayer out there? Something no one else has done.

RTS is a bit wasted on me right now, I've only just started Starcraft. Maybe a dogfighter? Anybody remember Counter-Operative mode from Perfect Dark? I loved that mode! Has any other game had that mode? Even better, online?

The only Dog Fighter that comes to mind is Blazing Angels. No do not get that.

Well if RTS isn't your thing Perhaps something like Killing Floor is?

If you're into co-operative play, go give the 'firefight' mode of Halo 3: ODST a look, or the (for some reason acclaimed) 'Horde' mode on Gears of War 2.
Those are assuming you have an Xbox 360.

For a simpler experience, go look up the Indie game 'Guns of Icarus', available on Steam. It's a turret defense game with four player co-operative, and in the larger battles it's insanely hectic trying to maintain the ship and fend off enemies.

TF2 is the best multiplayer game for anyone and I only play the PS3 version.
What he said. I've clocked a solid year on that playing nearly every day, so it's fair to say it has pulling power. Get the Pc version mind, there's so much new content in it now, they've added more than they originally started with. New sets of weapons for every class and a big update soon too. Plus, a game where working together with your team is pretty much expected for you to have any chance, and every type of player has their niche. And it's well balanced.

Sad part is that Red Dead Redemption has a wonderfully beautiful idea, though gets waisted with player killers....dunno, just get sick and tired when I'm suddenly with a posse, running around with them and setting myself up to go to face bandits to level up, when I am always the first to randomly get shot down by a group of two guys who have rifles that can get you a 120 yards away. Which I know people will often tell me to 'buck up, wuss', but it's getting a little tiring when I'm trying to avoid conflicts and I'm getting shot every time.

Hell, I got tired of it enough to where I just shot a guy randomly when trying to head to a bandit location, and suddenly he's hunting my head because he was...seven, eight levels above me and kept sniping my ass..and since I respawn in pretty much the same area, it's rather easy to kill me. He did this for like...20 straight minutes before I logged off

Could give eXteel a go if you are looking for something a little different. Third person mech fighting game with jetpacks etc and no storyline. Variety of weapons to choose from and skills to buy. Free too.

I prefer the sort of Online Multiplayer found in Killing Floor and Iron Grip:Warlords.

I'd have to recommend TF2 as stated from the posts above. It's one of a kind shooter.

Do mind, the PC version is the best. Nothing wrong with the PS3 and Xbox 360 version, but less updated on them...
As a matter of fact, I doubt they've ever been updated once.
