A N64 game in a microwave?

Recently, I accidentally set something on fire in my microwave. Long story... Heating up something in a container which happened to have a bit of aluminum on it. I didn't know it had aluminum on it; it went on fire, and I panicked. Point is, my friend found it funny. I told my friend who was over my house today, and while I went outside for a minute, she thought it'd be REALLY funny to put one of my Nintendo 64 games in the microwave.

When I got back, it was on the counter, I smelled something funny, and I asked why. She said she microwaved it as a joke and "something happened" to it. She didn't say what though, and nothing TOO bad seems to have happened (I mean, no visible flames, or anything). Upon quick inspection, the cartridge seems fine- keyword being seems.

So, what do you think? Is it safe to put it in the system, or should I probably not?

Oh, also, I'm decently sure this topic goes here... unless it somehow fits under gaming discussion. Not 100% sure.

many things would get ruined if you dont see any physical defects it shouldnt harm your n64 but chances are it wont work and don't worry people put off topic and gaming discussion in either of these forums like they dont care...

Don't put it in your console. Just don't. You don't wanna have to hunt for used N64's on eBay.

It's an N64! Those things are indestructible. Mine got tossed out of a two story window and it still works.

Yes, but what about the N64 itself? I had a cousin who had 3 of them die on him. I swear those things get destroyed quicker than you can say "Red Ring Of Death..."

Well, in order to figure out if this is okay, we first need to figure out what N64 games are made of. Basically, anything with metal in it is borked.

Unfortunately, your game is probably completely fried.

Really? I've had mine for like 10+ years and i've dropped it like 100 times and it still works absolutely perfectly. Maybe your cousin is just really unlucky?

Yeah, that's the thing. I'm decently sure the cartridge itself is okay- I mean, physically. Dunno if anything "inside" it got messed up at all. But the thing I'm uncertain about is if anything will happen to my N64 if I put in the cartridge. I've had it for a really long time now (maybe 8 years?) and really don't want to go through the hassle of getting a new one; but if I know that the system will work fine if I put in the game, then I'm not going to just keep the game on a shelf to get dusty.

I say put it in and hope for the best. What's the worst thing that can happen...?

I was browsing through the freezer once and I found an old copy of Rampage:World Tour which I had lost ver a year ago. Friend of mine said he put it in there as a joke but forgot about it and since he buried it so deep it took forever for anyone to notice it was there. I thawed it out, slipped it in, it worked fine.

Give it a shot. The worst you can do is destroy the console.

You must have quoted me during the ten or so seconds that version was up. I've edited it now you see.

Mine fell out of the back of a car!

What game is it, out of interest?
Ocarina of Time, which I've been working on, lately. If it were any other game (except for Majora's Mask and Banjo Tooie) I probably wouldn't have minded.

I would say that, but I also was at a birthday party for a freiend, and he got it, got excited, shook the box, and found out that it broke due to that.

I know this war has been over for almost a decade, but.... I laugh at all the times my friends called me an idiot for getting a Dreamcast.

WHY DID IT DIE!

I think maybe the cartridge might be stuffed, but the console shouldn't be damaged by it. I mean, it's not like you snapped a cd in half, then put the two halves in a cd player to see what happens (I've seen it done, that person at school was not the brightest person). You can only have a go I guess.

I sympathize. I've been playing it a lot recently too. Thankfully they're easy enough to get cheap if your one is legitimately fucked.
If by some chance it IS totally messed up, I'll probably end up downloading it off of the Wii Shop. Well, it seems quite a few people are edging me on, so I'm gonna try it. Wish me luck, people.
