So, I'm doing alright in school, but I could do better. I've got As and Bs in most of my classes, and Language Arts is a big issue. I've forgotten to do projects, not turned work in, etc. I don't know what the issue is, but I just can't do the work.
Well, I'm gonna fix this ASAP, and try a system to fix my grade in the last 1/2 year.

My idea: Make school a game.
Here's the plan:
I'll make myself a character sheet, like in D&D. On it, instead of skills, I'll have my classes.
Each time I get a good grade/ complete an assignment, I'll give myself XP, which I'll use to "level up", in my classes. It may not really give me a huge incentive, but it should make everything a little easier to work with. If I relate things to games, I can do better at them.

What do you guys think of this idea? Any ideas of your own to share?

Edit: It's not that I don't like school. I love school. It's fun, and I really like the material the teacher is using, but maybe I'm just a lazy bastard.

Sounds like you'll waste so much time trying to find ways to make real life a video game that you'll fail the class anyway.

When I really need to get shit done, I just stop procrastinating and actually do it. It's annoying, but it works.

Or you could just use write down your assignments and check them off of a list.

That is a creative idea though I just don't think I would use it.

Well, yeah, but it's just an idea.
I might not put it to use.

Are things really so bad that you can't go through life unless it has some aspects of video games applied to it?

Have you just tried doing the work? You may not enjoy school, and you may not like doing work for it at all, but being able to just grit your teeth and handle something you don't like is a really valuable skill. If you need it, fine. It's awesome if it helps you, but just doing stuff is way better. I'm just going to guess you'll get caught up in this instead of doing the actual work or forget about it in a few weeks.

It's not like that, it's just that really, games= work you choose for yourself.
The only difference is how you apply yourself.

And I once had the idea that it'd be neat to climb walls.

It sounds like an idea that would be ridiculous both on paper and in practice. It just seems like making school even more work. I predict, if you do go through with this, that it will be forgotten with in a month, at the most.

Seemed to work for this kid. He used a similar concept to lose weight but I can see the same concept working for grades and studying.

So now that you know it works, Good Luck.

Nice idea. Some college professors agree. Not sure where i read it, but these professors are doing basically that. Grades are now "experience points," homework/tests are quests, and finals/projects are "boss fights." Stuff like that. From what i hear, it seems to work.
