Right, I've been looking for a new guitar to replace my good ol' Squier Strat.

Any ideas for a guitar that's is similar? I have a £300 budget.

I tend to play things like Arctic Monkeys and Muse. But for when I'm creating my own stuff I range in different areas.

I was thinking a Chromed HSS Squier Strat. That way, I don't have to give up my strat's feel and shape, and have a humbucker up in durr.

I'd love to help, but I'm a piano player rather than a rockin' guitar one.

Good luck with your search!

Also, another good point. Anything ranging from blues to metal. But, I have a Les Paul for the harder stuff anyway.

So, I'm looking for something that can play blues to hard rock. For example, Hendrix, Arctic Monkeys and Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Edit: Go 100th post!

If that's the case then try a shecter, you can get a really nice one for about £350 and they are the most versitile guitars money can buy

Either that or a telecaster but I personally think they are really dull

I'd help, but the only Fender style guitar I've played that I actually liked was a Jaguar, the rest are just... Not that great for me. Give me an Ibanez or a Gibson.

So I'll just say get a Jaguar. 'cause they look funky. Yeah.

If you have time to save up another 100$, I'd recommend getting an Epiphone Les Paul. I have one, and it's such a beautiful thing to have. I play mostly rock, country, and metal, and using the right settings, it can get almost any sound.

Schecters are TERRIBAD guitars! They have the most pants-on-head retarded placement of the volume knob, and they play like wet blankets.

I bought a B.C. Rich Warlock for 250 once. I mean, it's probably not fit for the music you like to play but it one day you need to play a heavy metal song and your Squire just won't do it for you...

I was about to suggest a Les Paul, or failing that an Epiphone substitute before reading this. Congratulations with that guitar, you lucky bastard. :)

I'd say that guitar in your OP looks pretty good, judging from what you want to play. Two single coils and a humbucker seems perfect. I, alas, have only a Stratocaster (ok, I have no right to complain whatsoever, I'm just saying that single coil-only guitars don't perform as well when you add distortion effects). I did have a cheap Ibanez once that had two humbuckers and a single coil in the middle. Maybe look around for a decent Ibanez guitar?

That's all the advice I have, really. I mean, you've got a frickin Les Paul. What more can you want? To be honest the only thing any guitarist will ever need is a Fender Strat and Gibson Les Paul, and you can at the very least more-or-less recreate the sound of every worth while song in popular music.

I would wait until you have more of a budget. There isn't a lot of point going from squire to squire.

Some are awful but you can get some real beauties to play

This is mine:

It's a BC Rich Masterpiece Bich. I'm currently learning how to play, but it's a pretty good piece of hardware.

It's worth around AU$600 which is a little over your budget, but you may be able to get it for around AU$500 (which is a little under your 300 pound budget).

I got mine for free including amp, but you may want something different.

Get a little bit more money and buy one of these [http://www.espguitars.com/guitars_alexi.html].

Or just buy Dean guitar like a Razorback. You can get one for 300-400€, they look great and you can kill somebody with it.
