I am part of an online modding community that revolves around Bethesda's "Construnction Set" for Oblivion. I got bored and began creating my own little land, and adding bits of code where I think it would work well. Now I've added a questline around it and named it "Freedom of Moonshadow", the realm of Azura. Got alot of cool things working, grabable ledges, climbable surfaces, reactioinal AI, light and sound triggers, patches of excessive bloom so that it has that "holy shit thats brilliant!" kind of thing going. Of course I had this all going before the questline, and now that I've added that, more code has been added, certain parts of the world only show up in shades of grey/brown, different weapons and situations, so on and so forth. There is a bit of a problem, mainly due to the size, but not much of one. I clocked it at 45+ hours of gametime not including the extras you can earn. The question I have is: Is it worth it? Do I realy need to unleash my monster into the stream, a flooded stream at that? With the horrible amount of user-generated content, even though I put in a lot of time and effort to make it how I want it, complete with voice actors and new abilities (code-coppied damn near straight out of Mirror's Edge), Friends and I liked it but should it enter the masses?

My question is: Why not?

No matter how much junk there is, if it's good someone bound to 'discover' it sooner or later.

I say go for it. Good job with creating such a big world, now see how people respond.

Yeah you should go for it! Enter it into the right place (tesnexus.com) and it could do well. And if not at least let me dl it lol.

Sounds like its something that would stand out from the crowd of most Oblivion mods, so it should get more attention and respect than your average "Umbra dipped in paint and adolescent testosterone worship, also boobs" mods.

Alright. Well, first I've got to compress the shit out of it, and I'm not sure if it will run with certain others, but its going up. 2 things: No Escapist mod,.... It would just be a giant heavily monitored chat room. Also, it opperates like the Shivering Isles, the doorway is in the base of the waterfall off of the Orange road. Everyone should know what I'm talking about. Oh, and if you've completed the Shivering Isles, you get a supprise.

I say do it for the simple reason that sometimes one mod is the difference between wanting to play a Bethesda game or not. When I first got Fallout 3 mods were slim to none. Now I play it quite heavily simply because of the available mods. They've made the game worth it. For someone out there, your mod could make oblivion worthwhile to them.

Worst case is everyone hates it, and then you ask for constructive criticism so that you can either improve or learn from it for your next mod.

Either way you win, people liking it makes you feel awesome (just people using things you make feels good) and if they don't like it you learn why.

Why not? Mods are the best thing about PC gaming, if you've worked so hard on it, you should release it.
