If you can sort out your jumbled thoughts and make them coherent... You might be able to join the horde of reviewers and vblogs and whatnot on Youtube. If you do have something insightful to say that is genuinely deeper then most (With regards to story/lore, are you well read on classic fables and literature? Because if you want to rate how 'decent' a story is from an objective standpoint you will need to know what it was originally based upon otherwise all you say will be opinion and youtube has ENOUGH opinion.) perhaps you might end up with a few thousand hits a week. Maybe.

If that is what you want to do, go for it! It will be hard, it will eat far more of your time then you give it credit (The one time I uploaded something to youtube it was a song for a friend, despite the song only being 4 minutes long what with all of the retakes, practice and everything else it took at least an HOUR. And that was with someone else doing most of the work, what with them writing the music and the words) and there is a high chance that you will be utterly ignored, getting less then a dozen views in a month before the inevitable cycle of creating fake accounts on websites like this to say 'One of my friends just discovered this AWESOME UNDERRATED CHANNEL!'

But if you can accept all of that go for it. Just remember (As you point out in your rant) youtube has already reached the saturation point with regards to game reviewers and you have to be a fucking diamond to stand out.

Dude, you need to chill out. I run a small youtube channel and most of my videos don't get more than 30 views. Just get your equipment together, make some videos, and post them! Do a little promotion here and there and the subs will come.

Don't stress yourself out on something you have no control over.

Any good artist does, in music, painting, or film. If an artist thinks that he is good at what he does, that usually means he isn't. So just do your best, and show it to people. Also, use critisism. I cannot stress that enough. It allows you to know what needs improvement and in what way. Good luck.

Dude, your grammar is not very good. You began your first paragraph of your original post with the word "but". You realize that implies that some point came before that, right? Not to mention numerous spelling errors... forget being laughed off of youtube for being too generic, you'll receive the same treatment for having the writing ability of a six-year-old. If that's what a triple-check does for your sentences, do a sextette (or more) of checks instead.

Also, first thing's first: lose the "it's your problem, not mine" mentality, and quick. If you want to improve, listen to criticisms such as ours. If this is how you write on other forums, and other people can read your posts, they're either "being nice" or they have the same grammatical competence as you. So shape up, because trust me, it'll help no matter what you do be it video reviews or otherwise.

I used to write reviews of Machinima films a few years back. Various people regarded them as pointed and incisive, but very useful in improving their work. I'd get requests to review films from the creators themselves like some creative criticism hitman because my reviews were that helpful. I can provide the same service to you, provided you don't mind your work being cut apart like mincemeat, Zero Punctuation-style.

Dude, if you cannot see the errors in your typing, I would recommend finding someone who can help check over everything you type for you, I am sure it would help you greatly. This recommendation is assuming your Dyslexic(at least I think that's what you were saying). There is nothing wrong with it, just get someone, anyone, maybe even someone on this forum,(I'm sure someone would be willing to help) who you send copies of what you're typing for them to check and fix grammar and spelling, it will go a long way. Also spell check isn't the most reliable thing, see if it can find that word in it's dictionary, it will say it is right even if it isn't. For example "I ordered a hole pizza". Obviously it should be whole, but spell check doesn't check that, and says that that is right.

The strike through area makes no sense again and serves no purpose.

See that's what I caught, and honestly I write really poorly. Just be coherent, finish your thoughts and you'll be fine.

As for being a reviewer, here's some advice.
1) Be confident. Ya, everyone is gonna check there stuff over and see every little fault, but you have to know when enough is enough and just hand that shit in (whether it be a test, art piece, or whatever).
2) Presentation (also confidence). If you want to be a reviewer, then you're going to have to put yourself out there, and if your stuttering like god knows what or just going uhm every second its going to be painful to watch and you'll come off as a joke.
3) Persistence. If you think you're gonna hit 50k on your first video with only one video out there you're probably wrong. Most youtubers take a long time to hit any sort of large amount of people, and you probably won't be big for a while.

Give it a shot and see how it goes. Me and some friends tried it with some let's plays and I have been working on some other things (school has kept me busy as of late so it's been 3 weeks since we've put anything up) and even though they aren't that great and the audio quality was a tad shoddy, nothing bad has happened. In fact, 1 person subscribed to us so apparently we're doing something alright.
I will warn though that with reviews you will probably have to be really insightful, know the source material, or understand how to explain the game to outsiders. Actually, I think the last one would be the best for a reviewer since technically reviews are supposed to be for those who do not have said game and are looking in to it.
Moderate length story short, just do it and see what happens, enjoy it. Hell, when you make one, just send me a link and I'll watch it (which isn't much but hey, its about all I have the power to do).

But recently Iv been thinking about being a game reviewer/artist and I had a mini panic attack because for one I often over think and phyc myself out by just thinking too much about it, also because I'm worried Ill just be like someone else on youtube or will get laughed off because I mainly want to do Lore gaming for MMO's like when FFXIV is fixed in 2013 and do some FPS on both console's and PC. I wanted to be a reviewer so some people could come to me and ask "Is this game any good and is the story great?" but FUCK ME there's a shit tone of them on youtube and I see horrible ones that have over 50,000 reviews and really good ones that only have like 500.

I also want to be a great artist but my current work keeps be busy for days on end and I have one day off a week(soon I'll be going 7 days without a break thank you holidays.) and I'm one of those artist that think everything I make is complete shit! AHHG I'm still currently building money for a new PC and equipment to record from my Xbox and PS 2 and 3 but I'm pretty much going nuts over thinking about, what to post, what to say during video's, how do I rate them, what will my channel name be, what will the title cards look like, will I have contest for the fans and AHHHG!

Reading this in my head made no sense whatsoever, but reading it aloud like I was saying it to myself worked. I can see the concerns which you have on the creation of a youtube channel, but I would ask that you rally your courage to delve into a venture anyway, since you cannot know how your channel would be recieved until you actually do it.

Start small, with a few videos on reviews to popular games. Name the titles similarly to videos of existing reviews, but make sure not to copy them entirely. Try to get yourself into a way of reviewing that is comfortable with you, as planning your channel around how your audience thinks of you will only turn you into another 'famous vblogger' like that Ray William Johnson character.

I'd recommend your first goal to get comfortable in interacting with youtube's upload system and how your videos appear on youtube, see if you start to get more than a hundred views on your videos, then expand your project as is when you are confident about your viewers. Remember though; do not base your content only on how your audience reacts to you, or you'll get trolled into the ground.

As for your spelling and grammar, you appear to type like you speak, which results in your self admitted rambling. This way of typing can work if you are able to slow your thoughts down and focus on specific points, although you'd need to develop the writing skills which suit your way of typing yourself. I do highly recommend practicing your way of writing/typing to urge the development of your levels of skill. Your spelling will also advance in quality as your practice continues.

Yes my spelling sucks too but I accept it so I'm not going to get fussy when people comment on it but rather try to see where the errors are.

My oh my, this is certainly an interesting thread. I'd comment more on your numerous spelling and grammatical errors, but the key thing you have to know is that words are the only way we can know how you tick. If your typing away a mile a minute, thinking of what to write before you hit the keys, what you write will be jumbled, schizophrenic, and have loads of run-on sentences. I got the basic jist of what you were attempting to say, but if I can't tell what you're trying to say, I can't respond properly. I'd love to help you, but I can't help you if I don't know, specifically, what you need help with.

As for the problem...eh, just focus on quality. I'm a firm believer of the "hook, line, sinker" method in mediums, which is effectively hook them in, KEEP them in, and have them leave your videos/books/what-have-you enlightened. If you're just doing let's plays, reviews, and whatever else has been done on youtube millions of times, then the hook is something unique to you ("Why should I watch your video?"), the line is how entertaining you are ("Why should I CONTINUE watching your video?"), and the sinker is what they got from it "Why should I continue watching your videos?"). Since Youtube is saturated as fuck, your biggest thing is to get this system down. You can advertise, but realize subscribers are not entirely within your power to get. Focus on quality, and the subs will come when they come. The hook is what gets them, the line is what keeps them, and the sinker is what makes sure they stay for awhile. Remember this. And also work on your grammatical understanding of English

I know there are these stereotypes going around how you have to be humble about everything you do and are but that's not the way to go. If your art is something that you never show to anyone then that's fine but if you want it to get exposure and recognition, you have to be confident about it. If you won't even like your own stuff then what makes you think others will?
I'm a dancer and a musician. I've performed in front of an audience many times. Unless you go out there with a "I'm the best there is" mentality, you're not going to do very well, trust me.

Some things I did notice:
You change tense midway through things. You go from ?I want to be a reviewer? in the first couple of lines to ?I wanted to be a reviewer.'
You use an apostrophe for plurals. You need to talk about consoles, not ?console?s?. You would only say ?console?s? if you were talking about something belonging to the console, so: ?The console?s hard drive space is just not enough.? That kind of thing.
You use too few full stops/periods and too many exclamation marks. Exclamation points should only be used for occasional emphasis! Otherwise you seem overexcited or mildly retarded! See!

Don't give up on your idea if it is what you really want to do, but you're going to have to work hard for it. Read a lot, write a lot in your spare time. Work on your spelling, grammar and structure. Work on phrasing, tense and vocabulary. Learn to use rhetorical devices and figures of speech. Then start thinking about things like channel names. You're worrying about niggling details when you've only got a shadow of an idea of the overview...

As obvious as the statement is, people who know you know you. As such, they tend to be able to figure out what you're saying. If you want to reach others, you're going to have to work on it a bit.

I can read my girlfriend's dyslexic brother's posts, but that doesn't mean he writes well.

You're the worst judge of your own product. Either you love it too much or hate it too much. Heck, sometimes you do both.

I simultaneously love and hate writing. It took me fourteen years to write something I thought maybe was good enough to not hate. Even now, I throw away more than I keep.

The best thing to do with art is show it to people you know will be honest and see what they think. Honest feedback helps.

Your story speaks to me... kind of. I've thought for a while of all the different ways to say this, as I too like to check over what I write three times before posting it, and all I can tell you is: Go for it! No one ever achieved anything by sitting at a computer whining to people about how hard their jobs is, before they've even started their job. But if you're as passionate about video games and gaming lore as you make yourself sound, then it shouldn't matter how popular you get or if you make it big because you'll be doing something you love. Nobody ever picked up a guitar or a paint brush because they wanted to become rich and famous, they did because they love what they do and it made them happy to do it. If success is what you seek look elsewhere, because I as someone preparing to go into a career in film, that life as an artist is a harsh, cut throat, dog-eat-dog world, and if you can't put up with the day to day demand of having to produce high-quality videos on a regular basis then maybe you should get a new aspiration. Also to make "good" or even great videos requires much more than just sitting in front of a camera and talking, it involves writing a good script with interesting, well thought out, and compelling points or funny, well timed jokes, it also involves setting up your lighting, testing your audio, and most importantly editing your footage into a cohesive and coherent package which may involve digital effects or dubbing or many other things. Most of all you can't be afraid of failure, because trust me, if you do go down this road you will fail a lot, and you have to be able to pick yourself up from bad day and start again in the morning. You also can't be so defensive, if you react to criticism of your work the same way you react to criticism of your grammar then you'll never be happy. Trust me, in the wild wasteland of the internet everyone's a critic and they will not hesitate to rip your work to shreds and crap all over it. You need to have a thick enough skin to ignore the trolls and yet at the same time respond to the legitimate flaws people point out. Also don't be so nervous about this whole thing, on the internet everyone's anonymous. I too was nervous when joined the escapist 3 months ago, and just making a single post was hard for me. I'd write what I was going to say and then delete it and not post it, as I have terrible social anxiety issues both IRL and online. I'm not even that comfortable posting this but I;ll do it for you sake and because some friends of mine are encouraging me to come out of my shell. This is one of my first steps, and I hope you'll take yours soon too!
