Okay, threads about new ideas in gaming and innovation have probably been done to death, but just stop and think for a minute. How many weird and new ideas are thought of each year? The answer is many, at least once a year round about the beginning of April...
I've been wondering for quite some time, what if all the April Fools jokes, all the false announcements, all the spoofs made up by the fanbases, what if they were all real?
Here's a good example, I was browsing through Bob's House of Video Games (don't judge me, I'd just lost a TF2 match badly and needed some simple humour to cheer me up), and came across this:-
Now, ignore the fact that it's called 'Call of Shit', that's not the subject matter. The thing is that I would be constantly playing CoD if it were really bunnies versus camels. It just seems like a fun idea. I'm sure I'm not the only one that thinks this.
Another 2 ideas come from the Halo series. Idea one was done this year by Bungie, and it was that Halo: Reach would contain chess as a multiplayer mode [http://www.bungie.net/News/content.aspx?type=topnews&cid=25354]. Now, when I saw this, I thought it looked like a really fantastic idea. I don't really like chess, but it just seems really weird and funny.
The other Halo thing is Red vs. Blue. Now, this is an obscure one, and not really an idea, more of something I'd just like to see. After watching through pretty much all the RvB episodes, I cannot take the Halo plot seriously, at all, whatsoever. I'd much prefer it if the plot of Halo was based around the Red vs. Blue characters. I love the fact that Grifball was brought into Halo 3 (which I tried for the first time a couple of weeks ago, it is complete madness), and I think that this would be a nice addition, and probably more enjoyable for me.
So, discussion time, what weird ideas do you have, or have been created as hoaxes, do you really wish were real?
EDIT: Added discussion value - What weird hoaxes have you heard that you are glad WEREN'T made?
