Political correctness mainly exists so people who fight against political correctness can have a smug sense of righteous indignation. 99% of the time, the accusation of political correctness is blown horribly out of proportion with a few well placed lies mixed in. Which is why people thrive so much on the rare stories of people ACTUALLY being silly and oversensitive, like (from appearances only) this instance. Overall, there are far less constraints on behavior from any form of political correctness then there are from those people who will stare angry daggers at you for daring to impune on them by trying to give half a damn about your fellow mans feelings.

I'm certainly not Catholic, but Pagan holidays celebrating spring used things like eggs and rabbits as a symbol of fertility. Along comes Christianity trying to sell their religion to the pagans, and it was a lot easier to keep all the festivals, feasts and traditions the same, while just subtly sneaking in a supposedly Christian purpose behind it all.

I honestly found myself treating it like any other day when I was greeting people at my job yesterday.

Probably because until about 7:30pm last night I had a jewish girlfriend so was sensitive to people who don't give a damn about jesus- even though I made sure to give a damn about Passover. Freakin' matza...

I'm an atheist and I'm perfectly capable of enjoying Easter Eggs. Fuck your equinox ovoids.
Well said well said indeed. Honestly, why the need to change it? I just don't really understand it. :/ Are they scared of being sued by some nutjob who -really- doesn't like Christian Holidays? I just don't get the need. Could someone explain the need to me? I just don't understand how calling a chocolate egg an Easter Egg because it's affiliated with a Christian Festival is politically incorrect.

Whatevs, it's not like anyone I know actually celebrates Easter anymore. I'm lucky I still get Spring Break. (Woo, 1 week off school a week BEFORE the week preceding Easter.)

I'll be damned before I refer to Easter as anything other than "Resurrection Rabbit Day."

As in, the day Jesus came back from the dead and wanted to celebrate, so he gave eggs colored by wine to children and then played hide and seek with them while he was transformed into a rabbit.

[sub]I'm going to hell for that, aren't I?[/sub]
It's much more fun to call it "Zombie Jesus Day"

If your not religous you can just call it a chocolate egg or an egg hunt why change the entire name just because it has a connection to a religion? I mean seriously politically correctness is just plain wrong, it appears to be more a group of people who don't like things so they change the name and context of what it is to something they would like instead of it being a group trying to make things more socially acceptable to the whole community, it's just plain stupid.

Changing "Easter" to "Spring" I understand, but who in the hell gets offended by the word "Egg"?

Political correctness my skinny arse.

To paraphrase what has already been said - it's Easter and those are fucking eggs. Stop being stupid (you imaginary?) people.

Yup, like nearly all 'political correctness gone mad' examples, this story is made up.
I must be horribly out of the loop I didn't realize "The Frisky" was a reliable source. Hell I didn't even realize it existed until I saw the link. And although I agree with the sentiment that the original story was not true I fail to see how "probably not real" is a definitive "didn't happen" even if the source was valid.

Thefrisky > Fox News. And I don't even know what thefrisky is either.
