While browsing the internet, I came across a guy who made ROM hacks for an old SNES game called Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. I thought to myself, "Looks pretty cool. I'll try it out." After finishing the first few levels, I thought to myself, "Wow, this is amazing."
Now I'm a fan of the classic Yoshi's Island. I've played through it numerous times, completing each level 100% before anything else. SMW2+, which is the name of the hack, is essentially an expansion to the original game. The game levels are very well made and create this feeling like you're play the actual game.
In the original game, there are certain exploits that you can use to your advantage to make the game easier for yourself, like hoping on enemies for an extra hover boost. In the ROM hack, you have to use these exploits in order to complete each level 100%, giving the player a much more satisfying challenge.
The thing I like most about this game is that it pulls off very few dick moves. This isn't like Kaizo Mario, where all your movements have to be timed extremely well in order for you to reach the next teeth-gritting, controller-crunching obstacle. The difficulty is fairly simple and only requires you to understand the exploits from the original game.
I highly recommend this hack to anyone who has played SMW2: Yoshi's Island. There have been two hacks made for this game, SMW2+ and SMW2+2. I have yet to try out the second hack. Here's the link to the creator's website

And here's a demonstration of the game. (Not me playing FYI)
