The MLP forum about the pony being a lesbian. That right there beautifully illustrates why. That forum is a joke right?

A pony once bit me and tried to trample my dog. So my opinion may be a bit biased.

Ponies and all evidence of their existence must be expunged alongside these unholy monstrosities. To me, this show is nothing more than sheer propaganda spewed forth by verminous filth that seek to propagate the idea these insipid equine degenerates are somehow desirable. It's the memetic equivalent of the black death!

(Honestly though, I've never seen it. Well... I saw CR!'s show on it, and the clips looked kinda funny... not the sort of thing I'd watch if it were on, though.)

Heh, I'm fascinated by the fact that so many apparently intelligent people can be so taken with such an insipid and irritating idea for a cartoon. While I was growing up, my little ponies were goofy plastic toys with bristly plastic hair that little girls played with. They had an accompanying, badly animated, and badly voice acted cartoon. I know this, because I grew up with two sisters.

Maybe everyone who is so in love with the show, should take a minute and do some history research on it. You might see why some people are biased.

I'll admit, with all the interest in it...I thought momentarily about checking it out. I like to think that I keep an open mind. However, the minute I said 'My Little Pony" out loud and considered explaining to my girlfriend why I, as a 29 year old self respecting man, was watching "My Little Ponies", I quickly decided against it.

To each their own, though. =)

This is a serious question?

The quality of the show is subjective, some like it, some don't, and the polarization coupled with established cultural perceptions on masculinity cause the friction.
Yup, this. And this is also why it's a love/hate type of trend with people exposed to the show. It either attacks their masculinity or they find it humorous and witty.

Then there are those that jump on the bandwagon and those that don't really feel anything towards the show but I'd like to imagine they would be in the minority. Myself? I don't care for either way. I might give it a try if I had the time or if I didn't always have better things to do. ((In other words, if I were bored enough.)

Sure, any fans can be annoying. But MLP fans are borderline rapists with their fandom
Borderline rapists? In that they are somewhat irritating?

I don't think that word means what you think it means.

I don't know how seriously I can take any post referencing "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic".

Nothing against the show, honest. What little I've seen of it, it seems a fairly innocuous cartoon; probably somewhat better drawn, animated, and written than many in the age of cheap vector animation. Nothing of what I've seen inspires in me either obsessive devotion or a disgusted rage that outshines a thousand suns.

But of all the topics I've seen come up on these forums, including issues of suicide, pregnancy, gender relations, racism, bullying, nationalism, war- you will forgive me if MLP:FiM and how people regard same doesn't quite fit in my definition of "a serious question", warranting a blind forum header to attract the attention of all.

I don't even like cartoons much, let alone a carton aimed at little girls (which it is, so don't quote me on the stupid bullcrap quote Lauren Faust said).

So take that as you will.

Also, I find that most people in the fandom, just like it for the sake of it anyway, because it makes them feel different, and edgy. What these kids do for attention nowadays...tsk...tsk.

Because I'm entitled creating an opinion on something based on prior knowledge before I actually subject myself to the thing. I've never cut my arm off with a chainsaw, but I'm pretty sure I'm not gonna like it.
If you're ever given a choice between the two, go with the chainsaw. At least the pain will go away eventually, and people won't constantly say "Whatever, cutting your arm off with a chainsaw is like, the coolest thing ever, bro."
I'm serious, I watched an episode, and I developed this horrible burning sensation underneath my face, like someone removed my muscle tissue, threw it in the microwave for a few minutes, and then put it back.
Also, the fact that it has fans doesn't bother me; it's the fact that the fans won't shut the hell up about it. I'm a fan of H.P. Lovecraft, but I don't bring him up in every thread I go on.

Question's already been asked a million times and the answer is the same (for me anyway). I don't like the show for the same reason I don't like anything else... it doesn't look like it will provide me with any entertainment. Are people really so needy that they need others to like the things they like to validate their decisions? If you like it just watch it, if you don't, don't. Pretty simple. Also the "just try it before you make a decision" thing could be applied to anything. So unless you have tested every single piece of entertainment before you have judged it then congratulations to you, but most aren't willing to waste their time like that.

No, most people like the show because they like the show.

Problem with that?

"some" is the keyword here.

There are legitimate fans, and there are posers who just jump on the bandwagon.

It's the same for anything, a recent example would be Dubstep.

Fuck off.

Seriously, what is with the bloody MLP fans trying to make us like the damn show? Yes I know it's not all the fans but even the fans have to admit that the ones like the OP are pretty damn annoying.

I haven't watched MLP because where I'm from it's on very early in the morning and I'm usually sleeping and I'm not arsed downloading an episode. I've seen clips and whatnot which have warrented a chuckle, I'm pretty sure I'd like it if I watched it. But I don't want to watch it at the moment, maybe some day I will but not today.

EDIT: Hmm...probably came off a little aggressive on that first line. To be fair, all this "watch it/give it a chance" crap is getting ridiculous now.

I don't dislike MLP because of forum posts. I dislike it because cute little ponies are for little girls and I am a guy. That's why I don't like it and will not watch it. Over and out. Also, I wish so many people would stop using them as avatars. YOU ARE GROWN MEN. PLEASE STOP.

EDIT: Hmmm, maybe I came on a little strong in that post. <:-/

No. In that they will jump out of dark alleyways and hold you down while they yell about MLP, probably while rubbing themselves on you, and slowly undressing. I know very well what the word means, senator. Somewhat irritating doesn't even begin to scratch the surface.
What you said reminds me of something Seanbaby said about one bad game's music in his "Rest of the Crap" column in EGM Magazine: "[so-and-so game's] music is annoying. Then again, that's like calling taint cancer annoying".

That last sentence reminded me of that. XD

For Stuff like this just let their curiosity get them to watch it or their friends, posting in forums only inspires hate towards the fandom.

Yeah. Real men only like things with tits or violence. Preferably violent tits. But no women. Bitches better be watching cooking shows. Well, if we let them out of the kitchen I mean.
