Eurogamer said they had a review embargo until the afternoon of the day it comes out. That can't be a good sign.
Just found this one review. It's not good. http://www.bit-tech.net/gaming/xbox-360/2010/05/27/alpha-protocol-review/1
Meh, that isn't great, and I doubt it will be much better from other places. I will wait for Eurogamer to do one. Though they have started getting really tight with their scores now.

I always decide to play games without taking too much from reviews, generally because I like to buy most of my games upon release, just a habit I guess. So I'm gonna give it a shot.

But I give mot games the benefit of the doubt before calling it shit, but that doesn't happen often because I have generally low standards, but I haven't been wronged too badly just yet.

Edit: Oh and if you're wary about Obsidian games, good luck with Fallout: New Vegas

I've been intrigued with this game for a bit, and am still on the fence. With the way things are looking though I still think I could either tip into my yard or the next door neighbour's... and now I'm not even sure where I was going with that analogy.

Watched a few previews around the net and it looks like it could be at least half-decent, but word of mouth says otherwise. Add in the fact that Obsidian have never really 'wowed' me with any of their previous stuff and colour me dubious.

Overnight rental perhaps? We shall see.

With the Obsidian hate, I've never seen why this is. KOTOR2 wasn't their fault and I never had a problem with NWN2 and I thought it was a damn sight better then NWN. Also, their patch support has normally been good so if there are some problems, they will probably be fixed.

I pre-ordered this after seeing it was made by Obsidian and I could get it for £18 online. I'm just hoping it comes in the post today or tomorrow (yay, early UK release) so I have it for the long weekend *crosses fingers*

I'm willing to give Obsidian the benefit of the doubt. KOTOR 2 wasn't their fault, and while NWN 2 may have been horrible, I heard the expansion packs were an improvement. I'm excited about the premise of Alpha Protocol more than anything else, which is why I'm buying it.

i haven't paid much attention the game as it is, to me anything with a random, cliched name like "Alpha protocol" will probably as equally random and cliched.

Oh dear, another "Is Obsidian Shit?" Thread, last time there was one of these I got suspended. But on the OT I think I'll be checking it out, just wait a week after release and read the reviews.

And? Obsidian aren't BioWare.
Ah I was mistaken. I thought they were publishing it But my point stands.
BioWare are a developer (owned by EA), Obsidian are a developer ;) SEGA is the publisher in this case, and whilst I didn't mind Universe at War from Petroglyph, I'm not really sure SEGA publish much that's worth playing.

Still, really looking forward to getting this at some point.
