Titled about American Education but really about education anywhere in the world.

So I was watching Thank You for Smoking (An amazing film, I recomend it to everyone) and it got to the bit, for those who know the film, where Joey is trying to write his essay for school and Nick lectures him about the nature of arguments. The topic of Joey's essay, for those who haven't seen the film or otherwise need a reminder, was "Why America's government is the best government in the World". Watching this, I couldn't help but wonder if American education is actually like that, ie horribly biased and pushing all that my country tis of thee bullshit. And for that matter, is anyone's education like this? For example, my sister asked me for help about a visual essay the topic of which was "How is capitalism morally corrupt"? I told her the topic was bullshit and she should hand in a piece of paper that said FAIR AND BALANCED PERSPECTIVE MY ASS. So,

Does the American education system actually ask questions like "Why does America have the best government in the world?"

Speaking from a non-US perspective, I seriously doubt their education system goes to any specific lengths to do this. But the very natural condition of human ethnocentricity may cause the topics/concepts put forward in education to be put in a way that inadvertently favours America in some very subtle ways or puts them in the spotlight (as would any other education system).

If England were to have a biased education system that revolves only around it's own culture, mathematics would be taught like this:

"So if Fat Tony had 20 one ounce bags, selling at £40 a bag, averaging 6-8 customers a week, how long will it be before he can afford new rims for his Impreza?"
