Hey everyone. I enjoyed Dragon age Origins very much and was contemplating buying Dragon Age two. My question is if I can be a female player-character instead of the burlish default one you see in all the previews.

As a girl gamer I enjoy being able to make a fantasy version of myself and become immersed in the world around me (ala Fallout/Oblivion/Dragonage-origins) so do I have that sort of freedom in DA 2?

You can play as a female. There have been screenshots of the female default

Good luck with the immersion thing...you can't customize much about Hawke except dialogue choices. Think Mass Effect.

The big issue with customization is that Hawke's voice only really matches his default face. Or things close to it.

Seriously, it's just...off, with my brown-haired, smooth-skinned, pale rogue.

For all the hate I give ManShep's voice, at least it pretty much fit every appearance you could give him.

The difference is race/origin. You play as a human from Lothering.

All other customization options are identical to DA:O.

That's only because you were used to it from all the trailers and the demo and everything.
Think of Shepard. Any face but the one you gave him just looks weird. All YouTube videos with default face are downright fucking trippy.

Or maybe that is just me.

Lol yeah in Dragon Age you can customize your face and such and the respective colors... But is at least something... As for the Shepard's voice hate... Aww c'mon, I know it's sad not being able to customize a character's voice, but I tried to make a really ugly moffo and I think he voice suited him right. Then I did a clean cut officer type... And again the voice suited him :)

I've gotta say, Bioware really nailed it this time with the default faces.

Lady Hawke in particular is just... she's amazing looking. For my mage I'm going to veer from the defaul version, and it still looks like I'll be okay -there's a ton of options in there. All the hair styles from the first game and a whole bunch more, a bunch of face tattoos, a whole bunch of other stuff.

I also really, really like how Hawke's dialog changes based on which tone you take. If you use the Charming option a lot, she starts kidding around and delivers lines with a snarky attitude even outside of the conversation wheel.
