So I was browsing the store, hoping to find FFT: war of the lions available to play on my PS3, rather then just buying it on there to use on a psp (which I don't own), and in the description for the game it has:

PSN Game/ PS Vita / PSP

The first part confuses me: does "PSN Game" mean it is playable with my PS3, or does that have some other meaning?

Other portable games just say

Game/ PS Vita / PSP

I don't want to throw down 10 bucks on it if I have to had a PSP or something to play it.

Thanks!

Actually "PSN game" means that it's only available via digital distribution. The game will sadly not play on your PS3. You could download it on the PS3 and transfer it to the Vita, but you'd still need the Vita itself. Good of you to make sure that you don't waste your money beforehand.
Thanks for answering, I have the original FFT (on Disc no less!) but really enjoy War of the Lions.

Maybe someday they'll do a major console version of it.

I'm pretty sure you cannot play War of the Lions on the PS3. I checked PlayStation.com and it listed the game as PSP / Vita, which you can see for yourself here:

That's something annoying about the Store; I noticed one day that Persona 4 Golden also has the listing PSN Game / PS Vita, but I know for certain you can't play it on the PS3 either. If a game is listed as a PSP or Vita game and doesn't have an extra specification of PS1/PS2/PS3 game, chances are you can't play it on the system. Hope that helps and I'm not off-base here.
