Hey Escapists, a question.

Seen as we have the freedom of (relative) anonymity, I thought I'd ask a question that not many people would probably want to have IRL, but would prefer to type. Or maybe thats just me...

Back to the point. Why is it that a heterosexual male would want to watch another guy having sex when he is watching porn - presumably as a pleasurable activity? Sure, he may be having sex with a girl, but at the end of the day, you are still just watching another bloke have sex.

Even worse is when the male actor starts talking or the camera focuses on him or similar - why is this in porn? Who (Other than bi / pansexuals and heterosexual girls) s asking to see another sweaty bloke naked and waving his pork sword around?

This may help to illustrate what I mean somewhat...

EDIT: Sorry for a lack of detail. I'm referring to the largest group of porn - heterosexual porn. There is a lot of homosexual porn, a lot of individual videos as well, and things like hentai and similar. But, if you consider all the porn out there, you'll find the vast majority concerns heterosexual couples. There IS other porn, yes, but heterosexual is the most common. IMO. Hope this clears up confusion.

I'm not a regular user of porn but I guess maybe it's so the watcher can imagine he is the guy boning the woman?

I love how the OP generally typifies sex as something a man does with a woman or "girl" rather than something two people do together.

Perhaps not everyone has your particularly male centric view of sex?

Idk, ive mostly used porn for roleplay ideas or the like.
Rarely actually use it to jerk off.

Besides, thats only one part of porn, you havent even refered to a large portion, or anything thats not a guy and a girl just having sex.

Sorry, perhaps didn't clarify, I mean more: Why is the most popular kind of porn one that features a man and a woman, when the predominant audience is male?

Also, funny about that male-centric view - you'd almost think I WAS male... Fancy that!

Yeah, It's like role playing. You are the guy! I personally don't see it.
There is such a thing as lesbian porn.

You've missed the entirely it would seem. I'm sorry, but you can't try and belittle / condescend a view on sex that the OP doesn't even have. It is porn, and there is rarely (never?) love involved. You and I both know that. The OP is not 'typifying sex as something a man does with a woman' at all. He's saying that why would someone who wants to see some girl get boned want to watch the sweaty face of the guy boning her? I'm sure he's a human being capable of love and respect for a woman and wouldn't, during the act of love attempt to emulate what you'd see in a typical porn film, at all.

I've actually wondered the exact same thing. You'd think this might work for bisexuals, but that doesn't help either. For some reason women in porn are picked based entirely on physical features, but the guys in hetero porn (and a lot of gay porn) are fucking hideous. This is why my porn folders contain female solo, male solo, gay and lesbian porn, but no hetero porn.

Couldn't one draw the reasonable conclusion that a fair number of men, like yourself, have a male-centric view of sex. Therefore sex without a male participant isn't really sex, it's an imitation (at best).

I would assume for the same reason that watching two other people (of whatever variety) having sex in the same room with you is hot. Because watching people have sex is in-and-of itself sexy.

It's called voyeurism. It's fun.

As far as the rest, as a bisexual woman, I don't particularly mind any combination or who gets focused on when, so I'm not really sure I can comment on your picture there.

Hold up, I may have a males view on sex, but I can appreciate sex that doesn't involve a man is still sex. Sex isn't specifically between a man and a woman, it's more just a series of physical acts, if your judging on just a porn basis. Between normal couples - of course sex between two women is still sex.

I don't understand the question, is looking at a person of the same sex wrong for some reason?
No, I'm not saying it's wrong to look at someone of the same sex! I'm not a homophobic ignoramus! I'm just asking why a heterosexual wants to watch someone of their own gender having sex. Surely that can't be pleasurable - and if it is, why?

That's the question.

Our generation has watched more people having sex than experienced it ourselves. What does that say about us?

Eh, well if you had been watching lesbian porn you wouldn't have had that problem in the first place now would you?

straight porn is so gay.

lulz.

I kind of smell another warning coming my way, but come on, this whole idea that straight guys are strange for watching straight porn is kind of silly.

Yes, the shots of the guy's scrunched up face is laughable most of the time, but watching people have crazy sex is fun. It's one of the few things we have left that just tickles that animal brain that we all have. of course it's not for anyone, but it's not strange.

people like watching people of the same sex have sex, because they like actual sex. And if you watch porn with just the opposite gender, you still have to use your imagination to "imagine" someone, ie, yourself, having sex with that person. If you watch porn with someone of the same gender as you having sex with the person of the opposite sex, then you get to see the whole thing.

It's not rocket surgery.

True, but when more teenagers watch porn, than adults do, it's quite obvious. I'd prefer to watch porn than to have sex underage...I'm not 15...
I have to admit, watching porn like that gets awkward at those parts, but just watch lesbian :p

If he'd have said "to a woman" I think you'd have had a point. As it is you're just making a rather pointless distinction. In fact, "a man doing it with a woman" is exactly the same as "a woman doing it with a man" which are both exactly the same as "a man and a woman doing it together".

It says we've grown up with internet access and haven't been tricked into thinking that having a wank is evil. That's about it.

OT: Lesbian porn, problem solved.
