First off I'll admit this a very specific point about a niche game that the majority of escapists probably haven't heard of much less played. And of those that played even less will have beaten the game, but the only other place I could think to ask was the Game FAQs forums and those tend to be fairly hostile.
Anyway, After you beat the final boss of Etrian Odyssey 4 the game opens up an extra dungeon. On the second floor of that dungeon you start encountering plant enemies that on the first turn use an ability that petrifies all your people except one with very high likely hood. And even with eating food that resist petrification It still hits 90% of the time. Which leads to a scenario that if there are 2 of them in an encounter (and there usually are) that all 5 of my people get petrified first turn leading to a game over.
So my question is, is there a way to deal with this? I cannot find any way to become immune to petrification only resist it, but this attack has such a high hit rate that doesn't seem to help.
