[sub]Do I ever feel silly making a thread with this title...[/sub]

I have a question for those of you who have been through/are done with puberty.

I hear that during puberty, your body is overflowing with hormones, making you emotionally unstable. I want to know whether this corresponds with your personal experiences.

So, in hindsight, to what degree do you figure puberty affected your judgement/emotions while you were going through it?

Edit: It might be worth mentioning that I am actually seventeen years old. It's not that I'm wondering what puberty will be like; I am just wondering if it might be having any effects on my psyche that I am not aware of.

Halfway about 13-14. I got more pissy at my parents.

Though it does seem like they're annoying me more than they used to.

I'm guessing it has a various outcome on everyone, but expect to be very easily irritated... and if you think you're in love with someone, you might want to sit down and think twice about if you REALLY like him/her.

That's really all I can give you :p

uhm, good luck! ?

I've heard that as well, but I would also say that puberty is the time when you first have to really start dealing with certain emotions. Its the first time you properly encounter lust, jealousy, heartbreak etc. and you just don't know how to deal with them like an adult.

Uhh puberty really didn't affect my personality at all. Maybe I got a little moody sometimes but that's about it.

Two things are prone to happen whilst your hormones are flowing.

1. You'll become irritated very easily by everyone around you.

2. The amounts of testosterone will cause you to be very horny and be filled with the want to fuck anything around you.

With both of those just be careful is what i say and use your better judgment

I remember not having any friends?

I also became a complete jackass about things. I was really arrogant and a jerk. Perhaps that is why I had no friends. I'm still a jackass now, so either I'm not done yet (18 years old) or I'm just naturally a jerk.

OK, sure, hormones can affect your emotions.

However, there's one thing for sure: hormones will never be an excuse to act like a total douche.

So yeah, they will maybe affect you. They have affected me, but the key has been to realizing what was going on.

Agreed. I'm sure they weren't like this before.

OT: It did affect my judgement and emotions, however, I think that it doesn't change too much as you get older...you just get better at controlling it. Also, sometimes it is the parent's/adult's fault and they won't admit it if you "start answering back for no reason"

I am actually seventeen years old...

I was wondering wether what I'm feeling at the moment is genuine or just a result of puberty, you see.

I do see how I might have come off as a twelve year old in the OP though.

Probably makes me more emotional when I have feelings for a girl, but suprisingly less emotional at all other times.

But I haven't finished puberty yet. At least...I hope not.

You can counter the emotional crap by filling up on IQ points. There was a direct link between the kids with bad grades, and the kids with a criminal record/family issues. At least when I was in school

I'm currently only 16 (So pretty much at the peak of puberty) but all I've found is that when I hit puberty I became indifferent to everything, and became really angry for no reason on wednesdays.

But then again I've had things happen to me in the past that make people wonder how I can cope with it, so perhaps I'm just reacting to the events I didn't care about when they happened rather than it being hormones...

Yes this. Seriously, they only time you want a boner is if you are about to fuck or masturbate. Any other time, they are annoying. And they can be painful if you are wearing tight pants.

Well, I am 15, so I still get unwanted boners.

For me, I never really got Angry or Rebelious, but then again my parents are extremely laid
back to a fault.

I got really really really anally depressed though, it runs in my family I hear, not sure if thats complete bull though. Everything bothered me and I sabotaged a lot of relationships because of paranoia and fear.

I'm not sure whether it was puberty or the -kind- of puberty that made me massively depressed. I think it was the latter. I don't recall changing much since puberty ended. I've a pretty great memory, and I don't recall any major personality shifts, besides that depression, but yeah, I don't think the why of that was puberty in and of itself.
