a question about ZP

All right so basically on these forums for a while (without an account) just watching videos and skimming through forums. Anyway one of my favorite videos has been Zero Punctuation, and the most obvious thing Ive noticed is his hate of JRPGs. and on the forums Ive noticed a hate of JRPGs as well, also excessive quoting of ZP, excessive amount of profile pictures being from ZP, and excessive amount of hate to games which ZP has badly reviewed.

so I'm putting this question to you escapists, is this just a anti JRPG forum or is the hate directed to them to do with ZP?

I'm going to be an asshole here for a moment here and just say yes, people seem to really take after the opinions of ZP. But it isn't just ZP, they will follow the opinions of the videos that are hosted here, such as Extra Credits and Moviebob (to a lesser extent). You will see a lot of people cite the videos as backup to their arguments as well. It almost seems like anyone that can ramble on about things that people like to hear will gather a fanbase that will listen to everything they say. Don't get me wrong, they do make some good videos, and they do say some genuine things that do have relevance.

I don't know about other people, but I came to the Escapist around four years ago (has it really been that long? maybe it was only three?) when I heard Yahtzee was here. I never liked JRPGs before I saw his videos, and the opinion didn't change later on.

I think most people that Yahtzee's criticism with a grain of salt. Of course there ARE fanatical followers, but most of us realize it's his job to nitpick. So what? It's for comedy.


I should probably add the caveat that I don't like a lot of things associated with Japanese culture, so I may be an exception rather than a rule.
