A question for golfers

Okay, this is a random question I've been arguing about with a few people lately. The question is this: which arm is more important in a golf swing?

I'm right handed for single-handed stuff (writing, etc), but left handed for golf, cricket, baseball, stuff that involves two hands. However, although I have a left handed golf swing, I feel as though my right arm, my stronger and more generally dominant arm, is doing most of the work. All the power comes as I pull the club down. I have a pretty good swing, people have complimented me on it and it feels natural, so I can't be doing too much wrong, but I'm starting to suspect I must be doing something fundamentally different to most people. Most things I've read seem to suggest that for left handers the left arm should be more important.

So, how about you guys? Which arm do you feel is more important in your swing, are you left or right handed for both single-hand and double-hand stuff or do you switch like me? I'd be interested to know if people who don't switch feel the opposite to me in terms of which arm is more important.

Well I was in golf practice for close to eight years, and from what I remember, I feel it is the right hand. It's proven the right arm is the strongest, and that helps your swing get the most momentum and velocity to the shot. I remember I was right handed whenever I went to swing, so I'm going by from what I remember.

Hope it helps. ^^

Im not a golfer but all i can say is play however you feel most comfortable. A good example i can give you is jimi hendrix he was left handed but played a righthanded guitar upside down which is incredibly unorthadox but he is considered one of the best guitarists of all time

I golf though it has been a while thanks to a broken wrist. I'm terrible and I have an unusual swing so take what I say with huge amounts of salt. Generally speaking, if you play right-handed, you right arm is where the power comes from and your left arm is to keep the club head straight. Meaning your left is more of a guide to hopefully keep you from slicing or hooking too much. Neither is more important than the other though generally speaking a weak, accurate shot is more helpful than a powerful one that is launched into the trees or water.

You'll need to find out which feels more natural to you. I switch my hands for different tasks since some don't just feel right even though I am using my primary hand, but feel fine using the other one.
