Hey guys, I'm basically looking for some help in choosing a new set of earphones. I've bought a few cheap pairs over the years for one reason or other but I've decided I'd like to make a bit more of an investment in something a of bit higher quality. I'm aware that there are some more specialist websites out there for this sort of thing but I've come to trust this communities opinions a bit (not sure if that's a good thing yet).

So a few more details - they will mainly be for use with my iPod for travel, cars, planes and trains etc. Price point some where around £30-£50 but that is flexible. I'm thinking probably in-ear - I don't get along with earbuds but I don't mind them with ear hooks.

So far my research has turned up things like this:

Sennheiser CX 400 II [http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sennheiser-CX-400-II-Precision/dp/B001EZWO5O/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top]

I'm not bothered about make really. Any recommendations on where to buy would be welcome also (I'm in the UK).

For you discussion lovers out there, how much difference does a good quality set of headphones/speakers make to you. I'm not really sure I could tell the difference between a lot of them. The extent I can tell usually is when my speakers degrade in quality becasue they are too loud.

I personally use JVC Gummies, and they are pretty loud and have good quality. They are earbuds, but they have the bass of in-ear headphones. They're somewhat cheap(10 US dollars)but they last

I go through a couple sets of headphones a year, and I've found that Sennheiser are the best headphones you can buy. They can be expensive compared to the rest of the brands, but they are the best.

To me, there's a big difference between a cheap set of headphones and a good, decent set. I don't quite know how there's a difference, but I certainly notice it. I've just very picky about how my music sounds.

Sennheiser does give a good quality of sound, heard good things about skullcandy too.
The problem with the sennheiser headphones I had (twice or maybe three times in a row) is that the part of the wire straight after the jack is very fragile for some strange reason. And with things like headphones I'm always very careful so, go figure.

I wear these:

I look like a bit of a tard with them but I hate in-ear ones and the bass is really good. That and I tend to break every other type I get.
I know you said in ear but they're my preference.

I'm getting some Audio Technica ATH AD700s in the next week. This has been after weeks of gruelling research... and they look the best in their (relatively) low pricepoint.
