A question on rift classes

So I've been playing the Rift beta, and so far I love it. I'm a dwarf warrior with a large green beard, it feels somewhat awesome.

Anyway, I chose to be a Champion, because I have a preference for using two-handed weapons in RPG's, but when I looked at the recommended 2 classes to take with it, one of them was Paragon. This has confused me, because a paragon dual-wields, so why would it be a good match with Champion? I mean, if I'm using a two-handed weapon, why would I ever need to dual wield?

The only thing I can think of is that maybe I can dual-wield two two-handed weapons?

I dunno, does anyone know why a Paragon would be recommended to go with Champion?

Thanks,
Kratenser

So far I have only played as a mage and cleric but I have noticed that some of the class recommendations kind of contradict another. But maybe a paragon has some decent buffs that would help a champion.

There's sometimes things that may not quite go but what you need to do is have a quick look at the different classes to see the buffs they give early on. This is mainly because you aim to go down 1 main class, and put spare points you have into either of the 2 classes left over, just for the bonuses (and you will have to put points in these because it sometimes gives you 2 points and doesn't let you put the second 1 in the main tree).

So when I was playing as my melee cleric, one of the classes was a 1 hand/shield tanking sort of class with focus on blocking but the other 2 classes were 2 handed melee. The reason it's recommended is because of the damage bonus with hammers and maces you can get and also the skill which can convert your damage into healing for the raid group.

My second character is a bard, and one class I picked was bladedancer, not for any of the talents in the tree but you start out with an ability to increase dodge by 50% for 15 seconds. Infact both trees I picked are close quarter melee whereas bard is ranged. It's all about the bonuses and how they complement your class.

Maybe it's like the barbarian in D2? You can dual-wield two-handed weapons at the cost of power?
