Yeah, that's what I mean, just because I may play and enjoy GOW or GTA, doesn't mean I condone the behavior. I just wish more people saw this thread so I could get some more opinions...

It depends on your denomination and how strict the priest or bishop is in your area/diocese.

EDIT: As long as the older dude isn't so strict, you're in the clear. Also, there's a shortage of priests in the Catholic Church, so I'd say it wouldn't matter to them.

A Catholic priest with knowledge of all the latest video games the little kids are into... scary thought.

Out of fear of being banned I'll now take the time to say this was purely a joke.

I think Alone Disciple listed off some good advice. Follow your heart.

That could mean a whole world of different things though: you could become a hardcore gaming priest (possibly the coolest priest ever :p) or a priest who only plays family appropriate games in his downtime. It could also mean that in a couple of years (granted, I have no idea how strong your convictions are) you might realize that you don't want to be a priest at all.

Just follow your heart and be content in all the things you do.

Priests can be people too :)

Not being a Christian I can't comment with full clarity on this, but I'm sure that the bible doesn't state you can't play videogames.

If you read the OP, I clearly state I am fifteen. I don't even care if that was a joke it was just stupid and uncalled for, as I'm trying to get serious opinions.

Last time I checked, you don't go to Hell for enjoying violent video games, sure, you may get St. Peter on your case for a few seconds, but haven't we all, pious or sinful, enjoyed something we shouldn't have?
As long as you yourself find no fault in it, and believe that there is no wrong in a small misdemeanor, do what you will.
I'm not telling you to go on a killing rampage because you think it's right, mind you, I'm just saying, in the Game of Life, small things like violent video games matter about as much as a pebble on the side of the road; and you're zipping along at 45 miles an hour.

EDIT: I apologize for the St. Peter comment if you're offended, I was just generalizing, no hard feelings, right? :D

Its already been said, but one of my best friends is a youth minister and a priest in training. Half the time when we play on Xbox Live, he's jumping into games with the kids from his youth group and talking smack. He refrains from the f-bomb, but I think they like him more because he jumps online with them.

He's also ridiculously good, so there's that element.

Speaking as somebody whose opinions you should not consider if you plan on a future in religion....keep playing your games.

I think you should, as long as you don't show up the Pope with you're m@d sk1llz.
If I could get that close to the pope, I would turn him into a gamer. Since the pope can't sin, then violent games aren't bad.
Pimp his Popemobile and stick a 360 in the back with a Big screen and just play games. It'd be awesome.

*tries to imagine Xzibit "pimping" the pope.*

The salary you get for being a preacher man isn't really conducive with gaming prices.
Yea, that's true.

I mostly play GOW and GOW 2 and one is pretty cheap now a days, so it's no big deal.
