A quick question about Vanille

I've been playing FF XIII and I was wondering what is that symbol that she makes with her hands during some of the cutscenes. The one where she makes devil horns with both her hands then crosses them to make a diamond shape on her chest.

Does it mean anything or did Square just make it up?
