Well... I mean no racism to be implied when I say this, but it has been clawing at my mind for the last while.
If animals evolve certain traits depending on their living conditions, why do many people that live in the Eastern part of the world(Japan, China, Vietnam, etc.) have more slanted eyes than those who do not?
Does it really help with anything, or was it just something that happened and changed things so little that the trait never died out?
Opinions?

race is geographical, anthropologically speaking, we all originated from Africa and were dark skinned. As humans journeyed to other parts of the world, their bodies adapted to the terrain, weather, climate, etc.

That doesnt really answer your question, but hey, i tried.

According to a ridiculously loose memory from a world geography class I took 6 years ago, I believe it had to do with the strength of the sun in that area. Not sure, though.

I think the theory is that it evolved as a way to protect the eye from UV radiation and high wind. I don't think anybody knows if that's really true though.

I got no clue, I'm hearing something about the sun from the other posts, I guess that makes sense, it explains why most asians have darker colored eyes.
They do, right? I'm pretty sure they do.
